I haven't added anything I personally needed in xplorer2 for ages

this crumbbar is an unbelievable PITA to keep together in all text sizes (DPI). You see this for 96 DPI right?
I am prepared to turn a blind eye to it

of course you can, the guy had toolbars locked

you can either disable the new crumbs bar using TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS menu, where you'll get the old addressbar back
also you seem to have toolbars "locked"; right click on a toolbar (with buttons) and untick LOCK TOOLBARS, then you'll be able to move them around

what "search" are you talking about?

do you type commands with your mouse?

press ENTER key, as you are done typing the command, or disable the crumbbar to be like v5

ultimate version only allows "portable" settings if it is registered with a key

use the search box to find options

on the other hand think of the hand exercise you get by moving to a "remote" toolbar

everything is possible but xplorer2 has a docking pane framework that doesn't allow toolbars in the middle, they must be on an edge. You can't have the addressbar vertical. Possibly normal button toolbars could be placed vertically, say on the left edge, but what would be the advantage?
