Re: color filter button

What am I missing?? At 80+ perhaps I'm going senile! At 80+ I have adopted the notion that every year brings a new level of wisdom. I am at Level 80 wisdom. Still doesn't help me either, though, with the "perhaps I'm going senile" part of the quote. And I'm sorry but I don't have an answe...

Re: v6

FLP uses all your CPUs because after all these years it is still choo-choo search! Why don't these guys use an index? you know that the single programmable column can be easily "reprogrammed" using the saved programs, right? I will try to add another one for v6 as for your JUG files, scra...

Re: v6

Here are a few thoughts triggered by jimspoon's comment above. I use two other programs all the time while I am using X2: Everything, as mentioned by jimspoon, because it finds things instantaneously and selectively and can take console command lines to create lists; and File Locator Pro, because it...

Re: xplorer2 5.405 beta

You know [regarding my earlier post and your reply], maybe I just have to learn to use the browser. The post immediately above this triggered the thought that I could simply open the help file, move to the table of contents, and then from that page click links in the open-in-a-new-tab manner. That w...

Re: xplorer2 5.405 beta

A couple of quick comments. First, it looks nice -- I like the appearance, and the typography has improved since the beta (section breaks are clearer; everything seems crisper). Second, it is very hard to navigate. About this. As I scroll down a section reading, there is no way to get back to the st...

Re: v5.5 progress report

The current ("old") F1 help does have much better visual punctuation than the sample. The section breaks are clearer, and the font sizes seem punchier and more distinct. The tinted background also helps a lot to make it easier to read. In books, each chapter starts on a new page, and somet...

Re: v5.5 progress report

Glad to hear this. It will be nice to have updated documentation. A couple of quick thoughts about the sample. The help file seems very linear to me, visually. It is hard to know where one section stops and another begins. There is no strong typography to make the structure clear, at a glance. With ...

Re: How to suppress "save settings on exit is disabled" message

Never mind. My constantly running background helper program can intercept window openings and squelch them, and it now catches this popup and satisfies it before it is even shown (the program also turns of the beep long enough to suppress that too). As always, thanks for X2 and all its features.

Re: How to suppress "save settings on exit is disabled" message

Ah, Nikos, as I don't like extra (for me) info displayed on the screen, I do not use the status bar, so the message becomes a full popup, with beep, that must be dismissed with the mouse or the keyboard. I do know about the wheeling, but I have several fixed presets that I know and use that size thi...

How to suppress "save settings on exit is disabled" message

Often I change the thumbnail size, several times a session, when I am working on image folders. Recently I have been getting a "Save settings on exit is disabled; your changes will be forgotten" message after each adjustment. I run with save settings on exit disabled because I have a stand...

Re: xplorer2 build 5301 released

Can you please show me what this new context menu feature is? The following is what I get when I click on empty space, but I have been getting this for a long long while, so it is not new to me. What is the new context menu feature? (I think I bypassed all AutoHotkey operations in creating this exam...

Re: blog: win32 string comparison performance

Naturally xplorer² isn't doing string comparisons all the time, never mind half a million of them in a row, so here's another instance of striving for excellence, saving the last drop of CPU power, which turns out to be not really important, as we have seen time and again in this blog series... and...

Re: SysListView32 or ATL:BrowserListView

It's OK. Just a fifty to a hundred or so places I test for ATL:BrowserListView, and most of those can easily have an "or SysList32" added to the code. For the remaining cases, a simple function can return to me a character variable containing the class name used for panes by executing inst...

Re: SysListView32 or ATL:BrowserListView

The answer may be tucked away in the change log for Version 3.3.0.0 (13 Sep 16): "On touch-enabled laptops and the like, scrolling works with the finger (aka Pan gesture). Caution: if you have any AHK scripts that rely on the window class name being ATL:BrowserListView AND you have a touch PC, ...
