My experience with this issue is as follows: Try to avoid selecting the USB-stick from the treeview, because if you then browse away from the USB-stick in the filepane, its driveletter is still selected in the treeview (supposing you don't use the autosync option for the tree) and this also blocks e...

just my 2 cents, but I hardly ever have the treeview showing when using xplorer². Mostly I just work with the dual file panes. The rare moments I want to see the tree, one is more than enough. I find the breadcrumbs functionality way more practical to navigate around... when I work on other computer...

Whoohoo, Mr. Pleasant, you are THA MAN! 8) works like a charm! I love it. Very small annoyance: it opens a xplorer2 console window in which it shows the files that are copied, can that be suppressed somehow? It would save me from manually closing it afterwards. Although it might also serve as visua...

@Nikos: how is dropping the inner folder different from selecting all and pasting that one level up? It's not always an inner folder, could be one or more files or folders. @Cosmo: you make some valid points, and I will try to implement them in my archive-file habits :) Although it would also requi...

Hint: Shift-Delete (in contrast to Delete) deletes the object (in this case the empty folder) without moving it to the bin. I'm well aware of that, that's why I explicitly said Shift-Delete. I know I'm sure to delete it, I rarely use the bin, I delete with care  It happens quite often indeed,...

That sounded promising, Cosmo, but I have a few issues with that... The move operation you describe uses the Tree pane, I presume? I switched that one off, because I don't need it in 99% of my xploring. So it would take 2 extra steps, adding tree pane, dragging selection, removing treepane again. An...

That would be the logical way to do it, but it's got too many steps for my taste. I'm lazy by nature  so I want to be able to do it in one step. If I need to do this 5 times, I get annoyed by all the steps it takes  Now it would be: - Select all - Cut - Go up one level - Paste - Remove ...

Removing a single directory level and moving its contents up
I've been checking the manual and searched the forum but I couldn't find a solution. I hope someone can help me with my (simple?) probem. The situation is as follows: Folder A contains Folder B which in turn contains files and/or folders. I want to be able to cut out the Folder B level. So all conte...

So I did misunderstood the use of SUBST. Thanks for clarifying that. I don't think so. The names is dependent on the letter and the letter is dependent on the port the drive is connected to. So use the same port always. Using the same port is practically impossible. There are 3 computers in the hous...

I'm very sorry to respond this late to the answers on my own question   @desslok: if I understand correctly, this will create a sort of alias for a drive letter, but the alias will still refer to the drive that is mounted to that letter at that particular time, no? So, unless I misunde...

Name of external drive in the Tree pane
Hi there again :) I'm struggling with the following: I have 4 identical external drives that I have named Hyperion, Philotes, Artemis and Hephaestus (no need to find a meaning for this, I just like the sound of those names :) ) But not all four are present or powered on at all times. So, depending...
