Visual filter bar vs. Ctrl+H - Can't see folders.

Hi, all! I'm sure I'm just missing something, but I tried to filter multiple items in the same go by using commas, but the outcome seems...wacky! (On version 3.2.0.2) The setup: Two empty folders named Test-Filter [/b] and Test Filter 2 [/b] as well as two text files identically named. Add to that a...

Find and Replace IPTC tags or keywords

I posted what's below over on the xnview forums and got squat. I'm finding it VERY hard to believe that there is no easy way to find and replace keywords in photos. So, before I sit down with autohotkey and figure out how to re-invent the wheel, is there any way to find/replace data in the "key...

Re: x2 and Folder Size 2.6 - Folder Children column not upda

Thanks for the replies. I just sent an email to the Foldersize Guy - Brian Oraas. I think I donated a little to him way back in the days of XP when I first found Foldersize, so maybe that will help my chances of a response. I remember being so overjoyed at finally being able to see how big a frickin...

Re: x2 and Folder Size 2.6 - Folder Children column not upda

The only way Foldersize 2.6 works in Windows 7 Explorer is with a popup box beside the window, and I don't think there is any way to get the box to show File Children or Folder Children. I guess it's a miracle that it works at all in x2, so I'll count my blessings and overlook the small hassle of in...

x2 and Folder Size 2.6 - Folder Children column not updating

I'm having trouble with the "Folder Children" (hereafter referred to as "FC") Column refreshing to show the current number of folders. For example, if I create a folder C:\TestFolder and then drag another folder into it, the "FC" column updates correctly and shows 1. Wh...

Re: Setting Colored Folder Icons in x2 (Revisited)

Holy Smokes! There be some icons, for Shizzle! I started browsing but quit in panic when I realized each and every neuron firing in my brain was starting to have its own icon! Thanks, though. That makes me wonder. If one could freeze time at this very instant and count all of the icons in existence,...

Re: Setting Colored Folder Icons in x2 (Revisited)

Based on how wonderfully entertaining your posts are to read, I would be shocked to find out that you aren't a published author. It's so refreshing, considering that the majority of forum posts seem to have come from the mind of an 11 year old cocker spaniel. Your posts unfailingly make me think to ...

Re: Setting Colored Folder Icons in x2 (Revisited)

Hi, Kilmatead. I've been working with about 4000 scanned photos which represents a lot of work so I have been paranoid about making backups. As was bound to happen sooner or later a lapse in diligence found me editing scans in a folder that was meant to be original, untouched photos. Oops. I was abl...

Re: Application Data folder won't open with double-click

I feel nothing but pity (and maybe a little envy) if you were truly born a charlatan (good word, by the way, haven't heard that one in a while); however, I believe being a born charlatan would be infinitely more desirable than being a "Born Again Charlatan". A google search for that title ...

Re: Application Data folder won't open with double-click

Why would a folder need to contain a shortcut to itself? This junction is one of the (many) "system" (owned) reparse-points which Vista (and above) use to redirect possible legacy calls to Application Data. You'll notice that in your user folder there is another reparse-point called "...

Re: Application Data folder won't open with double-click

Ha! I see what you mean. It's a shortcut to itself! Somehow I have ownership of it which is probably why it's not giving me an access denied message. When I right-click and choose open with x2 the address bar says: C:\ProgramData\Application Data and all the padlocks on the MS folders change to shor...

Application Data folder won't open with double-click

This is more of a "Wow, that's weird..." than an actual problem. Curse my endlessly-wondering brain!! :) I just noticed tonight that navigating to C:\ProgramData (W7) and double-clicking on the Application Data folder within won't open it. It seems every other folder in there will open wit...

[Solved] x2 search doesn't find files/folders inside appdata

So, tonight I was searching with x2 (windows 7 64bit) and i discovered that it won't find any files or folders inside of C:\Users\(username)\AppData.  I've tried everything I can think of to make it work, including taking ownership and messing around with folder attributes. If I'm starting the searc...
