Re: CD/DVD drive letters
Thank you Nikos. I found the option, and checking it solved the problem.

Re: CD/DVD drive letters
Thanks, Nikos. I can't find that item. If I go to Tools, there is only "Options." In "Options" there is an "Advanced" tab, but the choice you mention is not there. In the xplorer2 folder there is an "Advanced" icon. Clicking that closes xplorer2 and gives me c...

CD/DVD drive letters
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this, or if I've inadvertently set some setting that's causing it: Platform: xplorer2 ult 3501 configured as a Windows Explorer replacement, Win7 Ent/SP1, fully patched as of last Patch Tuesday, three DVD/RW drives (2 internal, 1 external). In Explorer Fold...

3.4.0.4
Hi Nikos,
V3.4.0.4 seems to have fixed the problem of xplorer2 desktop shortcuts not opening until xplorer2 itself has been run. They open now. Thanks!

3.4.0.3
Hi Nikos, With v3.4.0.3 I have the same problem that I and one other user reported after the updated to 3.4: xplorer2-based desktop shortcuts (i.e. a shortcut to C:\Temp) do not work after a reboot until I have run xplorer2 itself. Once I have run xplorer2 itself (started from the xplorer2 shortcut)...

Re: dead desktop
Well--I'm conflicted. I hope that no one else has the problem and that lots of people do.

Re: dead desktop
No, there's no problem with 3.3. The problem showed up with 3.4. I tried 3.4 on several different, though similarly configured, Win7 (32bit, SP1, Enterprise) machines, and had the same problem on all of them.

Re: dead desktop
Tried that. Doesn't help. I've tried this on several systems now (all W7) and still had the same problem. I should add for clarification that other desktop icons (Excel, Chrome, etc.) work okay; the problem occurs with Explorer (or Xplorer2) folders only. Right now I've reverted to v3.3.01 and all i...

Re: dead desktop
I mean that when I left-double-click any object on the desktop, nothing happens. If I right-click on it, then left-click the bold-faced "Open with xplorer2," the object opens. If I open Task Manager and kill the xplorer2.exe process, things return to normal, i.e. desktop objects open with ...

dead desktop
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing this problem: Just since the update to v34 (and 3401): On several W7/Ent/SP1 PCs and running xplorer2 Ult, occasionally--not always--the desktop is dead. Double-clicking desktop icons doesn't start the object. To start them, I have to open Task Manager, kil...

Re: deleting question
See this thread. Thanks. The workaround doesn't solve my problem: a habit reinforced over many years of holding down the shift key, then clicking the delete icon. Not the end of the world. I wouldn't mind an advanced option that allowed me to choose this behavior. Losing the ability to shift-click-...

Re: Opening MS Control Panel items
perhaps you have plain menus enabled? Use your TOOLS > OPTIONS menu to enable full menus then you will see this command Thanks. That did restore the Advanced Tools option and thus the Global tab. Ticking "Don't browse Control Panel" does fix the problem except for one place: In IE (v11), ...

Re: Opening MS Control Panel items
I don't have that option in my Tools submenu. I'm enclosing a screen-shot. Under Tools I have Find files..., Subfolder size, Folder statistics..., and Options. No Advanced.nikos wrote:you need a different menu command, tools > ADVANCED options it is called
