Nikos, any chance of getting the behaviour changed in Xplorer2? I think you would just need to record the original date/times before showing your comment dialog, maybe include a checkbox in the comment dialog to allow the date/times to be kept/restored or updated, and then restore the file date/time...

Thanks RP. What you describe is how it appears to be working on my system as well, but according to Nikos: this depends on how the comment is set. If the file contents are changed (adding the content) then the date is affected. If a parallel (summary) stream is added then the file date isn't changed...

Thanks Nikos, that is what I expected - the first is actually changing the file, but the second is just adding a stream which I didn't think was supposed to change the modified date/time. The files I originally noticed the behaviour with are self extracting archives created with WinRAR, stored on an...

Add or edit comment without changing file modify date
Is there a setting anywhere that will keep the current modify date/time when adding or editing a file comment? I like to use comments for files with non-descriptive names, but want the date to remain the same as original to identify when newer/changed versions are available at the source location. T...

Xplorer2 scripting language
Is there any plans to include some form of scripting language into X2? I know it supports user commands that support any sort of script out there, but I hate having a button pointing to a user command that points to a script the calls something else. So many ways for the chain of effect to break - g...

Token for shortcut target
Is there an undocumented token for shortcut target? I want to do things with the target of a shortcut from within X2 using user commands. While there is an "Open file location" context menu (which I don't know where it came from, buried in the linkfile shell extension context handlers), bu...

You user base has just doubled, that will be quite handy. I often sort by mod date to see where I was working last, and annoying that sometimes the folder dates didn't update. I guess something to do with applications using windows api calls, or directly working with the file system. Sad that once a...

Thanks Kilmatead for such a great tool. I have been wanting to move the user commands menu to the top level for a while, and finally had a few hours spare so gave it a go. Bingo, coupla minutes and I now have a Commands menu right next to the bookmarks menu - perfect. Shortcuts may be quicker, but I...

Folder statistics in bytes instead of human readable
Is there any way to make the output of folder statistics return the actual byte size instead of the human readable kB/MB/GB approximation? I need to confirm exact bytes on duplicated folders, and currently have to resort to a bunch of properties and cut and paste which is a nuisance when folder stat...

I'll try removing all my other rules to leave just that one and see if it makes any difference. I do remember having some issues before with 1.8 or earlier I think, which is why the compound rule - contents = 0 didn't work for some reason. Are your attached drives NTFS or FAT? I'm just thinking that...
