Folder tabs on top won't stick

I like to see folder tabs on top. Going into the options (the Advanced tab), I select the folder tabs on top option.

I ok out, but then the next time I open up X2, tabs are on the bottom again, and that option is UNchecked.

What to do?

Run x2 as administrator (Window -> Administrator) or right-click and use "Run as..." and then save your settings that way - Windows UAC does not always allow all processes the access to the registry that it should do when running as a normal user.

or simply use Actions > Save settings now menu

That's what I meant, except doing it as Admin.

Just out of interest, why should that have a demonstrably different result (non-Admin) than relying upon "Save Settings on Exit"? Logic (always your weak-point ) would suggest the routines to be more or less exactly the same.

there are many ways settings go pear-shaped

in your case it could be your abnormally tweaked system (disabled UAC and whatever else you've done)

Sometimes you just know it's going to be "one of those days" when you wish they had turned off my electricity permanently. :D

That one looked simpler so I did it. And it worked.

OK now does this mean I have to do this every time I change a setting? I've tinkered a bit, and I don't think I've ever done that before (Actions/Save settings now).

OK, I see the page linked to above: http://www.zabkat.com/blog/settings-headaches.htm

So I have to check that option that says to Save state on exit.
