We were not there at the time, but we do have a small place in Florida between Fort Myers and Naples (both hit hard). Amazingly our place sustained little to no damage. We are quite thankful. But it appears one does not have to travel far from our place to find significant damage and even devastation. We wonder what the area will be like when we run from the cold and head there in a couple of weeks.

I had no idea you were a Floridian. I'm glad you made it safely though that mess. I'm in GA, but I have many friends who are down that way, and all have been able to check in with family and friends thus far.

Really, really glad that you're safe. Two friends of mine are out of house and home and vehicles, and almost didn't make it themselves, so everyone that I find out that made it through, kudos t o all of you.

We were at the art festival in Cape Coral 2 weeks ago. Talked to many people that are still in shock over the devastation. Some people at the hotel we were at were there because they lost their homes and had nowhere else to go.

Very sad situation. Will take many years to recover, and some never will.

That does suck. And we're going through more and more situations like this, seems every other year as a n average for the last 20 years.

Polar vortex also doing some crazy things now, about to get yet another cold snap my way - the last one around Christmas brought 7 degree weather (aka -15 deg C for you Celsius users in a state that typically doesn't see much below -1 deg C).

Times, they are a-changin'.

Glad I'm in Florida. We expect mid to upper 40's here (Orlando and westward toward the Gulf).

Have the typical heater elements in the AC air handler but have never turned them on since I replaced the AC 5 years ago :D

Lol. Here in Atlanta, it's not *too* bad - no ice storm like out west.

It's gonna be 26 tonight, but that is the coldest it gets for the next 10 days. So, basically about normal for this time of year here.
