What are breadcrumbs?

Post by dcwinton »

The index of the help files doesn't even mention them.

for a 'reference' definition, see:
this revised URL
at Wikipedia.

In xplorer2, a breadcrumb-like navigation feature has been newly added (in v1.7.0.x) to the path heirarchy of the folder-pane title bars.

r-click to activate at 1st level.

Note: It requires a registry setting to activate the fuller breadcrumb-esque subfolder feature. The x²settings editor can be used for this.

PS - they are described on p.53 of the current User Manual (1.7.0.3-1)
(Search for  breadcrumbs .)

I understand the use of the term "breadcrumb" as in crouton or the rest of its uses in Wikipedia.  Thanks for that link.  I assume that was a joke.

So by the rest of the context of your response, am I correct in understanding that the xplorer use of the term "breadcrumb" is just the articulation of the path in the title bar?

a. (@ crouton ... joke)
Actually unintended: the full link did not copy properly because of the parentheses to the (navigation) usage in the entry as originally posted.
See corrected URL link in updated post, above.

b. (@ I assume...articulation)
Yes. :)

Heh!  Not bad for an unintended one.  Thank you.

Post by dricher »

[I searched for (breadcrumb) in X2 PDF and didn't find it? So went to xplorer web site and d/led latest manual (said 1.7.0 something) and after opening, it was 1.6.5.1-1? What's up with that? Dave

The latest manual is included in the the current "Full" x2 setup file, packaged with v1.7.0.4
To get the manual (v1.7.0.3-1) for now you must download all 5.5MB (most of which is the manual, anyway.  ;)

which link did you use? All those in www.zabkat.com/alldown.htm should have the new manual, albeit with a bit rough pics. For good quality pics get the one from download.com (included with the installer)
