a little publicised fact is that the latest xplorer2 supports full color PNG skins with alpha transparency so you can start creating skins like this :)

note that a separate monochrome bitmap is no longer necessary

Interesting.

Are there more skins, that are not available on the Skins page?

So placing the x2skin.png file in the app directory is enough? I can't see the change.

I actually have.  :?

Nevermind, maybe I made a mistake anywhere. Trying later again. ;)
nikos: Maybe the skin creator package should respect that (or does it already?).

you probably didn't... it could be that xplorer2 is just sleeping. Either Alt+X will quit or reboot

Alt+X and restarting x² does not change the skin either.

edit:
Nevermind, found my mistake. Somehow I downgraded to 1.8.0.1   weird; well, now it works. Sorry!

Also, if it doesn't appear to be working... Make sure if you're running Vista or 7 that the bmp files didn't go into the "Compatibility Files" folder. That should be named "Incompatibility Files" because tons of programs break with that "function"... to prevent this you have to take ownership of the folder before extracting the files there, or extract them with an elevated process.
