Confirmed. It doesn't appear to matter if the scrap pane is closed or left open. I agree. It seems unrelated to what happens in the find dialog (either search for something or even cancel the search, leave scrap pane open or close, no difference). What strikes me is that when you get into a previou...

Yes, I think I do. I checked this on another machine and it behaves the same. 1. browse to a folder (several layers deep, as long as you can go back up one it's ok) 2. hit Ctrl-F and search for something (AFAIK doesn;t matter what) 3. Return to X² (leave scrap pane open or close, no difference) 4. g...

Find starts in the wrong folder
Hello Nikos et al., I've encountered a glitch since version 2.0.0.0 (haven't seen it happen before that version and 2.0.0.1 has the same problem) with the find dialog. When you use find in a folder several layers deep and subsequently go up one or more levels by hitting backspace (for instance), the...

Try WinMerge
Roger that gold leader. I'll take a look into WinDiff. Have a look at WinMerge too (Open Source). A very powerful comparison tool. Does folder and file comparison. I particularly like the way it displays differences side by side at word or even character level (as opposed to windiff, which only ind...

[...] I had already tried alt+k, but that didn't affect the subfolders. [...] ?? It should affect all folders you browse using that same tab! Is that not happening? e.g. a tab in the left pane shows a folder(containing several subfolders). You remove the 'Attributes' column using Alt-K as describe...

I think it is simpler than what Nikos tries to describe. If I understand it correctly you simply want to remove the 'attributes' column from your detail view. Correct? Then you don't need to cutomize each folder using desktop.ini! Just simply hit Alt-K and remove the column from the view by selectin...

[...]I opened TweakUI, went to the Repair tab, and, indeed, TweakUI has options to repair both the 'My Pictures' and 'My Music' folders. After repairing these folders, 'My Pictures' and 'My Music' appear in the breadcrumbs (without 'Show hidden files' being on). Just curious: TweakUI simply got ri...

I think this is a bit of a misunderstanding. The section from the help file text you describe is based on the assumption that you have 'Hide extensions for known file types' enabled (which it is by default). The name column will only show you the base file name without an extension, so this extensio...
