Silly me,
I hadn't closed all copies of Explorer2 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually AudioShell 1.3.5 does the trick, and it co-exists with MP3ext.
Fixed. I'm happy (again).

AudioShell 1.3.5
Following your suggestion............ AudioShell 1.3.5 looks promising. It prefixes all its fields with "Audio" and its "Audio Comment" field seems to be just what I need. Problem is, while it appears in Windows Explorer (long time since I have opened that), it does not seem to b...

Misunderstanding
sorry.... I don't want to waste people's time. Further investigation seems to show that xplorer2 displays the ID3v1 tag sometimes and the ID3v2 tag sometimes. My guess is that if BOTH exist, then xplorer2 show the ID3v1 tag whereas I for one would prefer that it display the ID3v2 tag (which is longe...

MP3ext
By the way.... I DO have MP3ext installed.
MP3ext shows ID3v1 tag (in the "Comments" on the Summary tab), and the ID3v2 tag (in the "Comment" tag on the MP3-Info tab).

MP3 Tags - ID3v1 and ID3v2
When I "select columns" (Alt-K) in my xplorer2 Professional, I see that I have two choices for the ID3 "comments" tag: Comment [S] Comments Now you might think that one of these would be the ID3v1 tag and the other would be the ID3v2 tag... but no... they are the same. It s...

Throwing Tabs to the other pane
Well, yes, But typically I have up to 5 or 6 folders on each side. So it's a fair few keystrokes. Typically, I have one pane with a client's incoming documents (tab1) and the work that I am creating (tab2). There might also be a third tab with an eclipse workspace, and often a 4th tab which is a sha...

Folder Groups across Panes
I wonder if you would consider this as a Feature Request????? I keep finding that I have to save PAIRS of folder groups of the form: <subject>_L <subject>_R to capture what I am doing. Any possibility of expanding the concept of Folder Groups to remember TWO sets of groups... one for each pane...

F3 and F4 and CTRL+
I was looking for a place to ask this question and here it is! I have been a long-time user of x2, and I have always used Editor2 only, therefore I set the szEditor2Path and relaxed. Now I want to have quick acess to TextPad as well, so leaving szEditor2Path, as was, I set szExternalEditor to d:\Tex...

Plugins or Externals
Maybe some of these antiquated features (Nikos' sentiments, rather than mine) could be made available as some sort of plugin, or (if the code is easily separable from the bulk of 2X) as small standalone programs? Some of us are even a tad sentimental about some of these "old nails". I'm th...

Subfolders
Will something like the old Ctrl-D subfolder function of the old 2XExplorer find its way into the final (pay-for) code?

Search Facilities -- Scrap Frames
I am fully addicted to scrap frames, use them all the time, and will be happy to pay whatever it costs to get full scrap frame support.....
BUT, I hope some form of the old 2XExplorer search facility is coming back as well?

Further Explanation
By the way, I HAVE put Folder Options on the Desktop, and therefore cannot access from there, but within Xplorer2 it still does not appear within the tree view. You therefore have to navigate to the Desktop and there is your Folder Options. It would be nice to be able to get into Folder Options from...

Folder Options
Just about the only thing that ever takes me back to Micro$oft Exlporer these days is the need to access Tools --> Folder Options.
Does the grand final plan involve having access to Folder Options from (say) the Xplorer2 Tools menu?
It's a very minor issue... it just bugs me.
