Alt+Q doesn't work because it's already assigned to "Switch between Draft and Native quick preview tabs". Anyway, if I did re-assign it, what's the point? Ctrl+Q gives me a preview and I then simply use the arrow keys to select the file. With Peek preview it's Alt+Q, down arrow to next file, Alt+Q ....

Should Column Mode be saved as a layout?

I turn on Column mode, then save a layout named Column.

Start x² with the /S:Column option, but Column mode is not selected.

No problem here (U.K.) with the links on https://www.zabkat.com/alldown.htm. Worked on three different browsers.

Tools | Options | Window. Is "Plain Menu" checked (bottom right corner).
It should not be checked, if it is you don't get the full menus.

I'm running 4.3.0.1 Ultimate.

It's TOOLS > ADVANCED OPTIONS you want, not Tools> Options (advanced tab).

It works on Windows 8.1.

I had no problem, that's how I downloaded x².
