Re: v6 update: simple filters
For Kilmatead : Life is like a sewer - what you get out of it depends on what you put into it. and for Nikos : us "old geezers" are Older and wiser!! Nothing wrong with change - but change for changes sake is something different and it appears from what you have written about version 6 tha...

Re: v6 update: simple filters
Is it a good idea to have two styles of filters? You already have two styles of menues, and you have had posts where users have been asked to check if "plain menues" is checked because they can't find someting in the menues. Is the same thing going to happen with filters? Note: ...

Re: v6 update: simple filters
I notice in passing the overuse of "I" again :) Then I will say: I will probably not use version 6. I will stick with version 5. I am happy with the way x² is. :) :) One of my fellow engineers, when he had done something stupid that I suggested he should not do, said to the Head of Engine...

Re: v6 update: simple filters
I don't get the point of what you are doing. In the existing Find files dialogue (for example), I just ignore the extra properties if I don't want them. Why have another dialogue? Overkill! I want the full mode always, I don't want to have to toggle it on every time just in case I want the extra fea...

Re: checkboxes
Good! Thank you.
The way you'd written it "will replace sticky selection", it appeared as if you intended to remove sticky selection.

Re: checkboxes
... will replace sticky selection ... PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE STICKY SELECTION!!! Checkboxes waste space. Are they checked with the Insert key, or only mouse operated? If they are only mouse operated, then what way will there be, with the keyboard, of "sticking" the selection? I only use the...

True!
Perhaps I should have written "A great enhancement to x² would be ..." rather than "I do want ...".

Re: v6 tasters
Nothing of interest to me...
Don't want programmable columns
Don't like crumbs
Don't use the drivebar
I do want a middle toolbar.
I do want a hotkey letter, not a number, to active the User commands.

Re: color filter button
The original post does not make it clear that the color filter button you want to remove is in the quick filter box on the address bar so it seems Nikos assumed you wanted to remove it from one of the button toolbars... True, but I hadn't realised that I could add that button to any toolbar. Now I ...

Re: color filter button
... I do not see a way to hide/remove just the color filter button... I'm glad I'm not going doolally!! The response from Nikos made me wonder if I had missed something obvious. ... A request for v6 perhaps? Indeed, Nikos is working on a GUI facelift, so adding the ability to decide what buttons ar...

Re: color filter button
If I right click anywhere near the color filter button in the address bar, I don't get an option to customize it, and hence to remove the color filter. If I right click on Mine (the toolbar I've created with the buttons I want) I can ADD the color filter button to Mine, but I don't want that. If I c...

color filter button
I don't want the color filter button on the toolbar. I don't seem to be able to find a setting to remove it. Does it always have to be there, wasting space!

Re: How do I do...
you know that you can assign direct shortcuts to particular user commands, right? so you execute directly without menus Yes, I know, but that is even more difficult to remember. Ctrl+? for Info. Also, I can only assign numbers, not letters. If I could assign Ctrl+I for Info, then it would be a litt...

Re: How do I do...
i didn't realize you wanted to open the menu, i though you wanted the list of the commands in the DIALOG (Alt+U, U, More) they are functionally the same, and at any rate that's the only one available as a macro adding & in a command name isn't going to work as you've discovered :) O.K. The macr...
