...would like to run X2 in elevated mode in W10 P 64 (same problem in 32). However,...all my shares disappear so thats pretty useless.... Re: blog: all about layouts

Good article. Layouts are an essential took, thanks nikos! I've been using saved Layouts for different tasks for many years and can hardly imagine how difficult it would be without them. Default layout is sparse and lightweight, useful for ad-hoc tasks and general browsing. Media layout has custom c...

Re: blog: regular expression C++ classes

Sorry to hear about your RegEx woes, RegEx are very powerful and helpful - I use them nearly everyday as a developer and often find uses for them at home too. I recall having trouble getting them to work the way I want with X², so perhaps this explains that (C++ support, Perl-syntax, etc). Could you...

..Perhaps it's just a glorified service pack, if it isn't some figment of imagination like in vanessa's little head :) They might be moving towards a more frequent, but less drastic, release cycle. ...And, in case you haven't noticed, they are trying to kill off the desktop... the idea is that as long as each PC has its local index, you can access it from a different PC. If you have a couple of win7 boxes with default search settings, then that's all I need I have 4+ Win7x64SP1 machines on my home subnet.  I don't recall customizing the Windows Search on any of these mac...

That's insanely awesome.  But also nearly impossible to develop - very impossible when using default windows controls like the TreeView that I believe X² uses.

...Would anyone have a problem if I always made xploer2 to browse the real target folder?... Yes, it would annoy me greatly.  However, I believe X² already does this in some cases but not most (as discussed here ).  While it would be to my bane, X² would be a better app if it was always self-consis...
