The Mac-finder is horrible, once you're used to X2. I've been in a similar position. I was looking for something better, and found an application called 'PathFinder'. Eventually, I never tried it, but it seems promising. Dual panes, Tabs, a Scrap container-like feature are all said to be included. I...

Am I still in time to refrase the User command for Renamer: > "C:\Program Files\ReNamer\renamer.exe" /enqueue $S Much better in case you have to rename a lot of files. Just did a test with renaming 1000 files. My old command makes your computer hang in pure panic, whereas t...

i thought you could execute multiple user commands if you separate them with commas as usual, but that doesn't seem to work - it works for batch file templates though It works for batch file templates (command script, ctrl+b, whatever) only , not for user commands or commands in the addressbar. You...

"$" is for dos commands, that's right! ">" is for those commands you'd normally use in the command line (like when you go 'Start' - 'Run...'). A good thing about that one is that you don't get or need a DOS console window. I think only one command can be used in each user command...

Interesting thread. I hope more people will reply, sharing their favorite user commands. Here's mine: Simple ones, kind of short-cut commands: Character map: > charmap Registry editor: > regedit Mouse control: > main.cpl Opening selected document(s): Notepad++: >> "[path to notepad++.exe]"...

Firefox bookmarks aren't stored as separate files, but they are inside a database in your profile. So a file manager for sync'ing doesn't work here. But the good thing is that with the many addon's made for Firefox there must be something that covers your problem. Google for something like 'firefox ...

I noticed that on 'some' networks, color coding slows it all down. I have this habit of browsing the file server on the right hand pane, and browsing the local computer on the left hand pane. In some network environments (like the one I'm working right now) I turn off the color coding for the right ...

Not meaning to interupt jasperlotus' question by being annoyingly on-topic: Good point, Cosmo. I support the bat solution for file splitting/merging. I have been missing this feature in the past.

This is way too many operations to do each time If you have set up shortcuts for column sets and shortcuts for folder groups, it's just three keystrokes for each side: Ctrl+shift+F4 for closing the current tabs, shortcut for column set to set the columns, and the shortcut for the folder group to se...

As far as I know:
You can set color coding activation separately for the left and the right pane.
If you close the program, the status of the color activation of the left open tabs will become the default of the tabs in the left pane when the program is restarted, and vice versa for the right pane.

As I see it, X2 is a bit of a case of the " Law of the handicapped head start ". Folder junctions are in the OS since NTFS. Although a very useful feature, no (average) user knew what is was, because MS didn't make any tool to make use of it. But X2 came with features to paste folder junct...

Matelot, I do work a lot within those "real corp environments", and I noticed that at least with some file servers there is a considerable delay in displaying folders when you have color coding (Customize - Color coding...) activated. When I'm having this, I deactivate color coding for one...
