Re: suggestion: cycling through address bar

I am guessing that BRX is describing this. It turns out (who knew? not me until this post appeared) that the address bar is a drop-down list, and it contains lots of history and, at the end, a lot of shell commands. If you use the arrow up-down keys to move in the list, you get stuck at the bottom (...

Re: how to find all folders and files in a folder

This works for me: ?* (a question mark followed by an asterisk). I think that means "at least one character followed by anything at all (including nothing)". If there is a file with a zero-character name I do not know what happens; likewise, if there is a file with a space or a multi-space name I do...

Re: Can't create a user command to move a file

It seems likely that you mean to execute the DOS move command to move the file from one place to another. If so, the command should be prefixed with "$" rather than ">". ">" is for windows commands; "$" is for DOS commands. On my system the (example) command "$ move G:\z.exe $R" does move the file a...

Color tag nitlet

Just noticed that the color tag border does not fully enclose the colored background for an item with background color. Also looks as if the left edge is missing a pixel in width (set to 2 in advanced settings). (I know the colored background can't be extended to fill the box.) https://i.imgur.com/I...

Re: View->Arrange and programmable column

Ah, well, OK. The programmable column is great, by the way, and well worth the upgrade.

View->Arrange and programmable column

When I have a pane open in details view, and have defined and activated a programmable column, the View->Arrange menu does not initally list Programmable as one of the possible arrangements. Subsequently, if I click on the header of the Programmable column, the data is sorted by the contents of that...

"Actions->Change dates" is a lifesaver

Went on a trip from San Francisco to Europe, took a ream of photos on my smartphone, returned home, and copied the photos to the computer using something (forget what at the moment). This software, trying to be helpful in some abstract sense, changed all of the file "modified" times from the correct...

Re: Bug: No quickjump to entry starting with char-samechar

You are right, and the Windows Explorer behaves the same way. The reason for this, though, is that repeated uses of the (same) character cause the selected item to advance to the next item starting with that letter. The first use of the letter gets you to the first item with that letter; subsequent ...

Re: website test

Well, what do you know. The arrows do appear if the mouse goes to just the right spot. But how on earth is a user to know where the spot is and that there is anything there? Especially as you show a big X in the upper right corner (which to me implies what controls should look like on the rest of th...

Re: website test

I've tried zabkat.com/deskrule directly as well, and also find no success. I tried Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as Firefox. In all cases, when I click on a pciture below the video the picture comes up but there are no left and right arrows, and if I then click anywhere outside the picture its...

Re: website test

Neither the first link nor the one above ("slow day in office") do anything when I click. Firefox 63.0.3 Win 7 64-bit. Ublock Origin (turning this off on the website does not make a difference.) No idea whether java is running or not.

How to sort thumbnail pane by stock property like date taken

Can a pane of thumbnails be displayed in a sort order defined by a stock property such as Date Taken (for photos)? Is there any way to sort a pane of thumbnails in any way other than the standard menu entries Arrange By Name, Size, Date, Type that might be manipulated to simulate sorting by a stock ...

Re: Cursor key does not work as expected

Well . . . (I miss Kilmatead who surely would have appeared at this point)

OK -- not a big deal -- AutoHotkey allows me to intercept, detect, and fix this for the application where it matters to me. Thanks again for your open design and the 3XXXX clearly exposed codes.
