Thanks

I guess I will have to do 30 copy and paste operations from one address bar to another.

I am thankful that both versions will work side by side,
and I do not have to close one before I can open the other.

Thanks I just cannot find what launches this thing. I could not see it in msconfig either. Nikos I will accept that xplorer2 is not launching hpgs2wnf.exe. Hopefully it will not annoy me any more, I have just renamed the folder it is in so it will not be found on start-up. Must remember to check for...

Thanks for replies.

Medieval explorers had maps showing areas that were known,
and what was not known bore the legend "Here be Dragons".

When I use Windows I expect a dragon to find me at the next corner ! !

Transfer settings :- xplorer2_LITE 1.7.1.4 to PRO v 1.8

Quick launch now has two xplorer2 links :- The old LITE version 1.7.1.4 with more than 30 different TABS split between the dual panes; The new PRO PRO version 1.8.0.1 with only 1 Tab in each of the dual panes. I was hoping it would automatically import the old settings. Please advise me :- 1. The ea...

Aggravation xplorer2_UC.exe accessing memory of hpgs2wnf.exe

I loathe and detest the bloat that comes with Hewlet Packard printers. I only use the printer about twice a year. After various system changes and new malware protection I am distressed that Windows Task Manager finds process hpgs2wnf.exe is running after start-up. I think H.P. is getting ready to s...

On my system the Comodo Firewall has 335 *.png etc files which get updated every hour.  When it happens they are all tweaked simultaneously. The time stamps range from 14:45:08 through to 14:45:14 - and every one has an even number of seconds.  More than 40 files were tweaked every second, but xplor...

Thank you Nikos I forgot to say I am using xplorer2 version 1.7.1.4 LITE under Windows XP Home with SP3, and C:\ is formatted NTFS. All the xplorer2 time stamps show an even number of seconds, but the file properties have a resolution of one second (i.e. half the files have an odd number of seconds....

File Time Stamp Rounding Up Errors - Improved resolution ?

Are Windows file time stamps created with 10 mSec resolution ? Windows supports %TIME% with 10 mSec resolution, and cscript can access such timers. I find that the modified, created, and accessed time stamps shown in the xplorer2 display pane are always 1 or 2 seconds more recent than values reporte...

Thank you I am now proceeding at full speed with Folder Junctions. When a Folder Junction is deleted the remote destination is also deleted. I saw this somewhere, and find that it is true. I am extremely unlikely to delete an important folder, and am no more likely to delete a Folder Junction, so th...

Nikos

I have now used Junction Folders and they seem to do what I need,
which is pretending a folder and its contents on a different partition are present on the System Partition.

Would Symbolic Links have any benefits or disadvantages for this purpose ?

Re breaking of Links when a file path changes. Services "Distributed Link Tracking Client" is probably relevant. By default XP has this active, and it is supposed to allow communal resources on a server to be shifted around, and the clients automatically follow and retain access. I have fo...

Nikos Thanks, I agree.  Plenty of snapshots I will start with only relocating the Music files.  They are the largest space hogs and should be easy to move. I will probably wait and test for a month after moving the each item. The last thing to move will be C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET. It occurs to me t...

Nikos It seems to work beautifully. I can move data from one partition to another. The Music playing applications think the music has not moved, BUT Acronis is not fooled, and images of the original partition are smaller as desired. I have now identified further "static" system folders tha...
