This discussion is particularly relevant to me, as I only just recently upgraded from XP SP 3 32-bit (still solid after all these years) to Windows 7 64-bit.  During this process, I also upgraded from 4 to 8 GB of RAM just for kicks.  Was I hesitant?  Absolutely.  I have/had all of the same reasons ...
