Re: problem with moving settings to new computer
Forget that. A reboot of the computer solved this. Should have tried that first.

Re: problem with moving settings to new computer
Now there's another problem. The programme worked fine for a while, but I hadn't got around to filing in the registration code yet. Now when I start it up I get the evaluation-or-fill-in-code dialogue window. But it hangs on that. I can't click "I want to enter the regsitration code", it w...

problem with moving settings to new computer
I installed xplorer2 on a new computer. Thinking to save myself some time I exported the reg file for the settings on my desktop as explained on the blog (https://www.zabkat.com/blog/13Apr08.htm) and imported that reg file on the new computer. However, if I now start up xplorer2 on that new laptop, ...

Re: user command and MS Word
Just to report back on this: it's finally fixed. And without re-installing MS Office, as I had even been planning to do. Funny thing: the Windows shortcut on the taskbar to MS Word didnt't work anymore either. With the same error message. Then I found the shortcuts to MS Office and found their comma...

Re: user command and MS Word
Well, I can still open a Word file in Word by double clicking it, that file association seems to be intact. However, rtf files don't currently seem associated with anything. So if I try to open them I get the question how I want to open them. I get a list of programmes to chose from. If I choose Wor...

Re: user command and MS Word
Hi, thanks for the tips. Rebooting didn't help. When I right click on a docx file, it'says to open it with "appvlp". So I tried the following. This command line: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\client\AppVLP.exe $N Nothing happens. No error dialogue, no error sound. Either with o...

Re: user command and MS Word
Same result without argument. I'll try a reboot this week and report back whether that changes anything.

user command and MS Word
I have a very simple user command to open a file in Word instead of in another word processor (I have several, and Word is not the default programme for all file types). It looks simple enough. >"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\WINWORD.EXE" "$N" Suddenly, this ...

Re: blog: divide and conquer shell extensions
I am trying this remedy, but it won't work, since the software won't allow me to disable a large number of shell extensions at one go. So... any other ideas?
[Edit:] Never mind. Solved. I had to check fewer items than I thoughy.

Re: CTRL+X suddenly mapped to a user command
So, whatever caused it... Maybe Atlantis had temporarily hijacked Windows? It has a "customize hot keys" feature too, and I'd changed a setting in that. As soon as I closed off Atlantis the weird behaviour of CTRL+X in xplorer2 stopped (and restarting Atlantis so far hasn't reproduced it, ...

CTRL+X suddenly mapped to a user command
A weird thing has happened. I've installed a Word Processor, Atlantis. Because I can't open word files in that programme by double clicking for some reason (in Windows 10), I've created a user command in xplorer2 to open selected files in that word processor, as follows: >"C:\Program Files (x86...

Re: make xplorer2 remember column width
Ah, that's another option I overlooked: the "automatically resize name column" option is indeed checked. But here's the thing: if I uncheck it, it doesn't help. Because after reopening xplorer2 the file name column is still set to the longest file name, *and*... that option has automatical...

Re: make xplorer2 remember column width
Thank you. I've read those pages and checked the list of common problems. I think none of them apply to my case. The only thing is I do always have a lot of tabs open: I have two windows open with five tabs in each, with my most commonly consulted folders. But I've checked, and I made sure the folde...
