Re: Deep Path Setting Disabled (Gremlinesque Bug, Solved)

Christos voskrese.

(Strange, the memories that bubble to the surface from childhood. I learned that phrase (in that language) when I was too small to even tie my laces, and now, there it is again.)

Re: Deep Path Setting Disabled (Gremlinesque Bug, Solved)

Well that solves that, I guess. A lot of trouble for nothing. Why not just disable the setting altogether if it's not needed or used? Would have saved this poor monkey a lot of scratching! :D Yeah, I know save settings on exit doesn't exactly behave the way we think it does, but in the interests of ...

Deep Path Setting Disabled (Gremlinesque Bug, Solved)

I first encountered this when messing around with the beta, but discovered that it happens with the stable 5501 as well. Basically the checkbox in Tools -> Advanced Options -> Global -> Enable Deep Path Support keeps getting "un"-checked after I browse around for a bit. I can't narrow down...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

I wouldn't want to be held responsible... So instead you're responsible for inspiring people to get up at 7am on a Saturday to write an Ode to a CLSID. What a legacy. I mean, shouldn't there be some kind of moderation around here to prevent this sort of thing? You know I can't police myself... Wher...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

windows explorer checkboxes are dead easy to LOSE with one accidental click. That goes against the idea of building large selections I use single-click activation all the time - you don't have to tell me about losing selections! :D My point is that (especially when holding down <Ctrl> for multiple ...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

as for this message, I thought I'd add it as e.g. DOS commands don't apply to network folders or zipfolders Yeah, but I compare drive contents (to other drives/backups) all the time, and the best way to do that is from there (how else would you select 2 or more drives in one go?). Guess you don't u...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

Ok, I give up - I've gone through all the options twice and I can't find the one that disables this: https://i.imgur.com/y2tZemS.png This bloody thing pops up every time I want to run a user-command and I have the apparent temerity to do so with the "This PC" in an active pane. Like select...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

Windows File Explorer has had the option to enable checkboxes for years. And I think that X² following suit is a good thing. Of course, and no one would seriously argue otherwise. However, one should take into account the actual user-experience of having such options. For example, in Win Explorer i...

Ok, that makes more sense. Unfortunately, even following your steps exactly, I cannot reproduce your result. Sorry.

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

you wouldn't want to use checkboxes to OPEN items for example? some things are better done with selection I try to approach things with what's left of my open mind, and, in particular, to look at them from the point of view of the mentally deranged users who would want to use them. :D One good thin...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

if you read the announcement notes... Yeah, my mistake - I only quickly read the highlights in the thread, not the detailed ones. Oh bugger, I just saw that checkboxes are yet another per-pane option. I hate those; they befuddle the mind and make me cry. ...there's an advanced option to make menus ...

Re: xplorer2 v.5.5010 beta

Got a different question - is there a way to reliably use both versions side by side simultaneously? No. By even trying to do so you have already crossed the streams of the space-time continuum and now all cups of coffee in the southern-hemisphere will taste like tuna fish. This is a very bad thing...

Re: Can't open new tab with everything

Might you can try it my way and you will find that what I say is true! For what it's worth, I cannot recreate this - folders opened from Everything (x64) will open in a new tab in x2-lite every time, regardless of how x2 is started (<Win+R> or a normal shortcut). It behaves the same using Lite or P...

however you cannot have a major version uphaul without some change Yeah, but when the doctor gave you a consultation for your facelift, you didn't believe his making you look like Brad Pitt would actually change your inner-karma did you?
