RightPadock: for what it's worth, you can add any command of the Ribbon to the QAT in File Explorer by right-clicking the Ribbon Icon / Name. In the case of laptops / ultrabooks it is also very convenient [space-efficient] to customize the QAT and then 'roll-up' the Ribbon.

Re: Tab 'overscore' does not display
Nikos: my lapsing middle-aged memory and I thank you for the prompt reply. In an earlier eon I made this setting in my first copy of xplorer2 Pro. Now I am grateful to have been reminded and have the tab 'highlight' back!
All good wishes,
Hans-Peter

Tab 'overscore' does not display
Re: xplorer2 Ultimate x64 Portable v3.0.0.2 running from a flash Drive Windows 8.1 64-bit No yellow bar or rule, perhaps one or two pixels wide, extends across the top of the active or selected tab, as it does in installed-to-disc setup. The active or selected tab 'background' is, however, light gre...

Re: Xplorer Pro unresponsive
Might be worth a try — on the assumption xplorer2 has not become corrupted: good old Chkdsk + defragmentation if not running an SSD. Could also be worthwhile to get a SMART reading on the drive if a spinner or use the drive utility supplied by the SSD manufacturer.
Good luck!

Imaging applications are nice to have for computer retailers which have common setups then. Other than that, they're a waste of time. Not. One can make sequential changes to a system, image them and then restore them in turn to work / experiment further. This weekend 24-hours of Windows Defender de...

Turns out there is a little more to the story: I have examined x2 on my other Eight x64 system. I believe 'Extract custom icon overlays' is a default setting. And for good reason. This setting enables the display of the dynamic overlays in cloud storage, for example, that indicate process and comple...

Found it . . . First, thank you Nikos for your further suggestion of a re-installation, which I have tried, without immediate success. But, while troubleshooting I discovered the deadly switch: Tools > Options > Advanced tab > uncheck 'Extract custom icon overlays'. Now, when xplorer2 pro opens, the...

Nikos — thank you for the prompt reply. At the moment this weirdness has me baffled. I will continue to root around to see if I can find a setting such as you mentioned that is causing the slow rendering. Meanwhile, as you point out, the folders are operable well before their custom icons appear. As...

Slow rendering of custom folder icons in xplorer2 pro on W8
Re: Windows 8 Pro WMC x64 + xplorer2 Pro x64 2.2.0.2 + Radeon HD 4850 | 1 GB | 256 bit w/ AMD Legacy Driver for Windows 8 + i7 2700K + Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB SSD, etc. xplorer2 Pro is rendering the small, custom-assigned Folder icons of List View astonishing slowly. The same folder views in File Man...

Eight is a mixed bag
After two weeks of cautiously building up a fully functional Windows 8 x64 CP system in a dual boot arrangement with 7 on an SSD I find myself adjusting to it better than I first expected. Metro for desktop users is either irrelevant or an irreducibly schizophrenic experience. After testing it for s...

OT: Windows Explorer 8 + Ribbon + New Trick
WE8 likely will incorporate a standard Microsoft Ribbon command I just learned courtesy of Ed Bot's ZDNet column: double click a tab name to reduce the Ribbon to a one-click flyout. Confirmed in Office 2010 apps + 7's WordPad + Windows Live Photo Gallery. With a customizable Quick Access Bar this co...
