Re: "Actions/Set comment" takes a long time
It is not an XPlorer2 issue. It depends on file size. Setting the comment with Windows Explorer uses the same amount of time -- about 18 seconds on a 500 MB file, and about 10 seconds on a 182 MB file. I saw comment text at the end of a file, so presumably the program that inserts comments had to fi...

"Actions/Set comment" takes a long time
Windows 7 64-bit
Xplorer2 5.5.0.1 ULT
E.g. 500 MB file (Blabba.tif) on SSD
"Actions/Set comment" takes 15 - 20 seconds to set the comment.
Could there be some property in my files that causes that, or is that an intrinsic property of setting comments?

x2settings.ini Gets Lost
Windows 7 64-bit Xplorer2 5.5.0.0 ULT Using the x2settings.ini file, not the registry. Occasionally, Xplorer2 replaces my x2settings.ini with what appears to be a default version. E.g., the pane layout changes and bookmarks vanish. Scenario: xplorer2 is chugging along with my settings, but if I exit...

Re: Invalid PDFs locked by Draft QuickView
Outside Xplorer2, PDF-Xchange Editor (version 7.0) shows the same "seized file" behavior, sometimes. After I open a PDF file, close it, and then try to delete it, sometimes I have to exit PDF-Xchange to unlock the file. It is intermittent. (I just gave PDF-Xchange a non-PDF file. It reject...

Re: "Find" vs junctions. Do junctions block Find? Blacklist
Wonderful! I belatedly looked in file Ultimate/x2help.htm [Help->Quick start] and found the following in "Search results": "... make a folder blacklisted, ... by entering the folder's full path under the registry key HKCU\Software\ZabaraKatranemia Plc\xplorer2.global\Find Blacklist.&q...

Re: Changing display order of folder
You'll be glad to know that some weeks ago someone, the NY Times I think, reported an increase in patronage at libraries here in the USA. I read that on-line. Narayan did a splendid job with x2docs, for which civilization is grateful. He can be forgiven for fleeing the project; documenting a moving ...

Re: Changing display order of folder
You probably meant page 67, not 367, as otherwise trying to affect sort order via the registry would be an interesting experiment in masochism, which wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Actually, I meant page 387 in x2docs.pdf, which I mistyped as 367. Tsk. I gather x2docs.pdf is languishing,...

Re: any problems with PDF search?
Adobe can indeed be a pain. They are Adobe, and we are not. But to be fair, the issue here is 32-bit vs 64-bit -- I think. From https://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5542 : "Adobe currently bundles a 32-bit PDF iFilter with Adobe Acrobat® 11 as well as the free Adobe Reader® ...

Re: any problems with PDF search?
Problem was caused by the Adobe reader. Xplorer's Find works after removing Adobe. The post from fgagnon (2009 Apr 02, 21:49 - seven years ago!) is the tip-off. I tried removing PDFXChange viewer. "Find" still failed. I re-installed PDFXChange viewer. "Find" failed. I tried to re...
