Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

Thanks, Nikos. Didn't think to look there (as it was in startup, as well as "run" in the registry), but that did the trick. No more window on boot. :D

Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

Well, nothing has worked. Rolled back a version, reinstalled that and chose not to replace Explorer, reinstalled latest without replacing, then with...nothing seems to get rid of the open window on startup; it's refusing to go back to how it was just a little while ago. Very annoying. Open to sugges...

> if you start xplorer2 and never close it, it's the same thing isn't it?

Never close it? I don't leave xplorer2 windows open all day, I'm in fact trying to get it to open only when asked. Have I misunderstood your meaning?

Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

Back to a single open window on boot after removing from the startup folder.

As for not telling it to replace Windows Explorer? That's kind of the point to using this, isn't it?
I'd like this to show up as much as possible, and it seems counter intuitive to shut that off.

Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

Just removed it, thanks. Interesting side note, after reinstalling yesterday, making sure that wasn't checked, booted this morning and had 2 xplorer2 windows open. I'll see if it helps removing from the startup, and if not, maybe I need to fiddle in the registry.

Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

I think I may have. Without reinstalling, is there a fix, like maybe just removing the startup menu link?
Using the /Z startup flag didn't do anything, either.

Just reinstalled, and it didn't touch the startup entry. ;)

Re: Updated, now starts open with Win10

As usual, I find my post as soon as I start a new thread. Last time this happened was in 2014, and Windows 7. Then, it was several entries in startup, this time it might be the flag in there was incorrectly set to "/M" by the installer. That's "Does not allow window to open in minimiz...

Updated, now starts open with Win10

Recently updated (4.4.0.1 x64), and each time Windows 10 boots, xplorer2 is open on the desktop. It wasn't open on shutdown, and it hadn't been doing this before the update. It added a startup folder entry (not sure if this existed before) of "C:\Program Files\zabkat\xplorer2\xplorer2_64.exe&qu...

Re: Windows 10 intercepts too much

Have to disagree there, I'm afraid. Though it sometimes happened in Windows 7, most of the time it was x2 that opened in many of the same situations, and the reason I'm here asking about Win10 having changed that. Maybe I got lucky and x2 intercepted only for me, but that was my experience. Just goi...

Re: Windows 10 intercepts too much

You could use my own favorite solution to open any file: find the file in x2 first, then use drag & drop from x2 onto the target app. Thanks again, but it's not something that works beyond "open" dialogs, and it's clunky. I'm seeing Windows taking over save, save as, downloads (save w...

Re: Windows 10 intercepts too much

Thanks, Robert, but it's not about changing a few file types to a new handler, it's about Windows Explorer taking control over things I'd prefer (and used to be able to) to access via x2. I've already changed files associations I needed to, now I would like to get the Windows 10 "Explorer"...

Re: Windows 10 intercepts too much

Folders, "WIN+E" all work as before, with x2. I just installed the latest update of x2 (was on the November release) and no change. Things like Photoshop still using Windows explorer (open, save, save as), as are downloads in Firefox, where neither did before Win10 (it's more than just tho...

Windows 10 intercepts too much

Only just "upgraded" to Windows 10 since my beloved Win7 will soon be unsafe. Though I've reinstalled X2 pro to reclaim all the open with stuff and not use Win's version at all, I'm finding loads of places Win10 asserts itself while doing anything other than WIN+E or directly opening it. I...

Re: Xplorer2 on screen after boot

They were all the same, with a /Z flag after the file location. After removing the two extras from startup and applying (no reboot yet), the new ones fell off the list. The oldest one (disabled from starting) is still there.

Re: Xplorer2 on screen after boot

Thank you.
There were two active entries for it there (and a third, already disabled), meaning it was already in there but opening on the desktop prevented somehow since it only started with this new update. The update apparently didn't check if it was in the startup and added a new one.
