Re: trivia quiz

Nikos, I am not sure I understand what you mean. I personally would simply select a number of files in list view mode, press Ctrl+P in x2, then Ctrl+V into Notepad++. Or am I missing something?

Re: trivia quiz

This was a rather rhetorical question. A scripting job would be gross overkill. I would simply create/use 2 text files with “pathless names” and compare them in WinMerge.

Re: trivia quiz

As I understand this, the Send to Scrap or Load into Scrap will only work if the text file contains full file path names. It seems it won’t work with simple file names. Is this correct?

Re: Forgot my layout - keeps returning to default

For what it’s worth, I run x2 ultimate on a SSD in Windows 10 x64, and I save the x2 settings to the user/appdata folder. X2 runs as fast as lightning! I have no issues with CCleaner.

Re: Search for text within Excel files

But I do have MS Word 2007 installed, and it seems it comes bundled with the “Microsoft Filter Pack”. Here is from Microsoft Filter Pack : The document formats that get added by the filter pack are .docx, .docm, .pptx, .pptm, .xlsx, .xlsm, .xlsb, .zip, .one, .vdx, .vsd, .vss, .vst, .vdx, .vsx, and ....

Re: Search for text within Excel files

You are right. The .XLSX file type is content-indexed on my system too. But I don’t have Excel installed, only Apache OpenOffice.

Re: Search for text within Excel files

On my Windows system, only the Properties are indexed for all listed file types (“Index Properties Only”). X2 can still find “hold” or “hold payment” in your .XLSX file…

Using your file, searching for “hold” or “hold payment” works normally here (Windows 10 x64, xplorer² 3.1.0.1 ULT [Unicode] x64).

Re: PDF viewers overview

It seems that Firefox is using “ PDF.js” to render PDFs. Here is from https://blog.oio.de/2014/04/11/integrating-pdf-js-pdf-viewer-web-application/: PDF.js, mainly developed by Mozilla, provides a JavaScript library that makes it possible to render PDF files in a browser without using a browser plug...

Re: PDF viewers overview

I was wrong about Microsoft Edge. It won’t open PDF files, at least not through drag & drop. IE11 opens them and the previewer handler is definitely that of DC. Firefox opens them but the handler is not that of DC. Chrome standard and Chrome Canary both open PDFs and the display looks very much like...

Re: PDF viewers overview

Note that I have “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf\ShellEx\{8895b1c6-b41f-4c1c-a562-0d564250836f}”, with default value: “{DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}” But there is no CLSID corresponding to “{DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}”.
