Re: xplorer2 on mac?

Personally prefer a port to Linux. Don't use Mac/Apple anything.

Re: Any news from Kilmatead?

Due to another incident in Eileen's Lounge where we lost a member who suddenly stopped posting, I'm also concerned about K's silence. A post about bitcoin on Hexus on Sept. 11th of last year mentions an accident, but then after that date I had a brief PM interchange with him on Oct. 1st, where he me...

Re: Change Windows 10 User Name

Can you create a new user <first name> and just set that up as your primary login? You haven't used it much so moving stuff to the new account shouldn't be that difficult.

Re: Symmetry

Nikos, I have to admire ( ) your consistency in responding to reports of "issues", "improvements", "enhancements", what have you. It's your program, your time and effort so you have to decide your priorities. Over the 11+ years I've used x2, that one characteristic has been steady as a beam o...

Re: Symmetry

Just what does this have [to do with] the OP? Well, you posited your ideas, Nikos dismissed them as more or less "not a good idea", and you didn't fight back. I argued in your case, Nikos became sullen, grumpy, non-committal, and tried to change the topic, which is always a sure sign that his strat...

Re: Symmetry

Ah hah! I knew the old cynic was still reading even when he pretends not to. Remember, a more symmetrical context menu can set you free! Really! Every now and then even PJ makes a worthy complaint. :D As opposed to an UN worthy complaint? Even though I tried to limit my "complaint" (i.e. "suggestio...

Symmetry

Can you consider improving the symmetry in X2 by: 1. All Organize dialogs have "DELETE". Can they also have an "ADD" button? 2. The tab context menu has "CLOSE". Can it also have "OPEN", like the ctrl-Ins keyboard combination? 3. Can the Filter bar have a drop down for history like the Address bar o...

Re: Toolbars disappearing

Very simply, no edits were made to the INI. Only browsed a copy of the file. As you mentioned and I saw in the INI, toolbars are not separate objects attached where needed, but integrated into each main view. Complicated any ideas I had of slicing and dicing the INI to build the layouts I wanted ......

Re: Painless Custom Toolbars (No Morphine/Tourniquets Required)

Any chance this tool can be extended to copying toolbars between layouts?

Toolbars disappearing

Shut down all programs, including x2, and rebooted to resolve an issue unrelated to x2 and ... lost my 2nd toolbar! x2 Ultimate 3.4.0.0, on Win 7, working in "portable" mode with settings saved to the INI file on a USB thumb drive. So after extensive research I determined x2 just went brain-dead. Ex...

Re: feedback required: scripting xplorer2

Looking ahead to where mainstream computing is heading, I'll offer the following: X2 currently has scripting capabilities of CMD/BAT scripting and, my preference, dumping a list of files with a user-selectable table of properties into an Excel spreadsheet and using VBA to automate the tasks. The inc...

Re: blog: slow network remedies

Very good, Nikos! Thanks for the summary for those of us who are destined to have our files forever trapped across networks. I have the "fast network access" option checked. I'll experiment with other settings to see what optimizes performance in my situation. One other item I've just discovered is ...

Re: build 3401 released

Crashes are not the only way to lose the tab history. Any time I have to close and reopen X2 the history is gone. Sometimes, the slow responses of the remote servers I access prevents X2 even from restoring the tabs to where they were when the program closed. You've mentioned you have limited networ...
