Best file format to save diary entries in
My default file format is RTF because I mostly use Word 2013 to write diary entries. I thought RTF would be a format that should be readable by most computers for years to come. Can the same be said about the native Word DOCX format? I think it is just a compressed XML file, whatever that is. I was ...

Re: blog: who needs antivirus?
Watch out for human computer virus vectors. By strange happenstance over the past week twice someone has called me with a very heavy foreign accent but English sounding name and told me there was something wrong with my computer and they needed access to it.

Re: Folder size results are best viewed in the stock size co
I thought I had fixed this, but alas no. Since the only thing I did in the week before the problem appeared was upgrade, I downgraded to 3.0.04 and this didn’t fix the problem either. I’ve also tried turning off folder size calculation and removing size columns, but those feature have never caused i...

Re: Folder size results are best viewed in the stock size co
like all busy doctors you throw in the most reasonable explanation and hope you'd never see the patient again :) for more ideas see http://www.zabkat.com/blog/why-is-xplorer2-slow.htm This problem seems a little bizarre in my opinion because resetting the custom icon for the last custom I created t...

Folder size results are best viewed in the stock size column
Lately the last day or two xplorer² starts up okay, but takes several seconds to fill the windows with files and folders. Today I also noticed a message of “Folder size results are best viewed in the stock size column” in the lower left which is displayed after starting up that then goes away. I don...

Windows folder that it can’t be deleted, moved, or renamend
Is there a way to protect a Windows 8 folder so that it can’t be deleted, moved, or renamed? Anything can go on inside of it, I just want the container protected.

Thank you Nikos and Kilmatead
Thank you Nikos and Kilmatead, that was exactly what I needed and it worked like a charm. I have generally found that if I think xplorer² should be able to do something I want, it usually can. Nikos, I’ve been meaning to thank you profusely for the Saved filters menu you added to Autofilter in the l...

Way to copy found files and folder that contains them
I have thousands of photos with the odd numbered names the camera gives them by default, that are organized into folders that actually describe them and give the date taken. I can find specific photos by their tags, but is there a way to copy the found files and the folder that contains them? I woul...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean
pschroeter, sorry for high jacking your thread  Pj, thanks for the added info on SSD's. I think anyone using an SSD should have multiple good backups going back several weeks or more. I wasn't complaining, I was amused. I'm always happy to ignite a spirited discussion as long as it remains ci...

Re: What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean
I wonder if there is a term for when the person who originally started the thread in a forum comes back and can no longer recognize it as his. They do seem to take on a life of their own at times.

What does “fast search” in xplorer² Ultimate mean
Can you tell me what “fast search” means in xplorer² Ultimate? Does it mean the results show as I type as I have seen in some search engines? To me xplorer² Professional is already pretty fast, but live updating would be better since I would only need to type enough until what I want turns up. It wo...

Make properties added to Details Pane links
I’ve added picture Tags to the Details Pane. Is there a way I can make the “Tags” that shows up in the pane links so I can at least open the Properties dialog to the right tab? I would like it because adding tags is three clicks away (Properties>Details>Tags). I would use the Comments, which is how ...

You know it's optional, right?
I'm not using the Ribbon and I like the new Rename function and love having access to my saved filters in the Autofilter menu.

What size are the large toolbar icons
What pixel size works best for the the large (and small) toolbar icons? I think I'm asking what size will not be scaled up or down. In a future release it would be nice if they didn't have to be ICO files and could be JPG and PNG.
