Re: Load time of inital load of X2Pro extremely slow (5 minu
I had a similar problem with a networked USB drive with Win 8.1. X2 not only took minutes (more than 5) to respond again - I've really come to dislike this blue circle which replaced the sandclock - but it also happened when this wasn't a start folder or in one of the panes. x2 just randomly stopped...

Re: Scrap operations
Is there any way to view a scrap window in a pane of the main program. I often wish I could use inter-pane functions such as F5 and F6 to copy and move, or Alt/Enter to open a folder shortcut's referenced folder in the opposite pane etc. Correctly NIkos hinted to the miniscrap. Sadly Nikos also ign...

Re: .tib-files (Acronis True Image)
I'm steering a bit OT, but for anybody getting fed up with Acronis and is looking for good alternatives I'd like to recommend a not-so-well-known application, I've been using for years now, which never failed me and I more or less consider the x2 of backup programs. It doesn't advertise much, usuall...

Re: blog: filename juggling
Have used this very useful renaming feature of x2 for years already.
Though if you use $0001 $N instead it's also very reversible since you can always remove the first digits with another renaming app or extension (at least as long as x2 doesn't support this feature).

Re: Ease of keyboard navigation
I don't like ribbons either. But I like Ross' observation and suggestion. I almost always navigate with keyboard. So I've encountered this "half-selected" phenomenon often and wondered about it. Though I also think the first entry should be selected normally when entering a folder there's the same p...

Re: How to disable "filter" box?
Ironically, of course, the whole point of it was to eliminate the silly repetitive pressing of the same key over and over to find things - but to each their own. This may be true. But for me it interfered with (quick) selecting files with Ctrl-Space so much sending it as spaces in the filter...

Re: "Cannot find registry information for xplorer2_UC...
I've meant to mention it for ages but was reminded by this thread now.
Wouldn't it be practical if x2se would not only close x2 but offer to start it up again after the settings are done and the editor is closed? Especially in the portable situation and when working on other computers with it?

I'm going to turn off the filter box as well since I haven't had a use for it in the last couple of weeks, but mainly because there's an annoying quirk I consider a bug (so this is a bug report, too, Nikos): When I'm quickly selecting files with the keyboard with Ctrl-Space every 5 or 6 selections (...

@discgolfer The renaming tools discussion is a recurring one and almost everything has been said at some place, so this is just a repetition. There are so many utilities for renaming, most of them good, you can choose your pick. I'd recommend searching for some old discussions. My recommendation tho...

@ x2user - In practical terms a hardlink is a entry in the Master File Table (MFT) that points to where the data is stored, all files have at least one hardlink, a so called hardlink is just another entry in the MFT pointing at the same data. Do you know if the entry in the MFT can be read and used...

but you would have to type the folder name in HERE field, wouldn't you? I don't see much difference between this and creating the folder with F8 beforehand!? There's quite a difference. I think you underestimate the sum of repetitive tasks coming with big amounts of filehandling. I often use the he...
