I wanted to ask for some time now: Is the folder calculation escapable or can be made so? Often I only need the size of one or a few folders, but if started in a big root it always completes the root (same for big folders of course), even if I change folders. And it isn't possible to start another f...

Re: I'm just trying to save a step

If I Select All and then flatten, it does not include the documents in the folder I'm currently viewing, it only flattens the folders selected. You can send the remaining (selected) files to the flattened (scrap)pane with Ctrl-S by the way, just so you know. But it's still a crutch and IMHO easier ...

Interesting tool for x2 portable

For all the users of the portable version of x2 here's an interesting and useful utility handling file associations for the apps on the portable device:

In the search results window I have two panes, the one on the left has all the info about the files found and the one on the right is totally blank. What is the window on the right for? Can I eliminate it? I cannot find anything in the user manual that explains the results window. Maybe you don't w...

FYI, I use another approach for organizing videos or other media. You must have all the media in question on one partition (though with today's size of harddisks no particular problem). Usually I have 3 folders, one with all the media, one "to_watch" and one "to_burn". I simply hardlink the media I ...

Actually there are so many freeware renamers that are at least as good as commercial versions that I'm wondering how commercial renamers make a profit. :-) I'm usually using a combo of renamers consisting of x2 mass rename, awx rename shell utility and Flexible Renamer. The last one is my personal c...

Just for the record, EAC, Lame and MP3Tag here too for years already.

Interesting that so many of us agree in this and still EAC didn't turn up on Nikos' radar.

I'm not sure I follow you or you try to follow me. Why is an A in the attrib column different for your intended use than a star in another column. You just turn the A off with attrib -a "$F" with the batch assistent and you have your visual marker (=no A) for watched videos. But if you find a simple...

There are quite a few possibilities to do what you want. It's a matter of taste. I probably would use the batch-assistant with something like ren "$B-watched.$E" which stays as first suggestion if you don't use the assistant in the meantime so you just have to hit Ctrl-B and Enter to do the renaming...

Well, I guess I have to stick to the clipboard trick then.

FYI, you can kind of "convert" textfiles to cida and back using the import from clipboard function and/or copying the paths from the scrap pane and pasting it in a text file.

Well, Nikos, sometimes you have to conced that X2 can't do it all. :-)

On the other hand Orbitdownloader - also mentioned in this thread - with it's built-in Grab++ works beautifully locating the hidden URL and downloading it, so you can keep your collection complete.

I followed your tip ("the watch file gets converted after some time") and tried FDM directly from the YT's channel page link (did not even have to open that video page). It works beautifully. Glad it's working for you now. It's really helpful. Indeed I usually don't open the pages anymore and just ...

AH! That oget must be doing the real trick (just like my DownloadHelper in FF). It must be responsible for passing on the name of the video (reconstructed from the page name) Actually no!. As I wrote before FDM does grab the title also completely without intereference of oget or other programs when...

Actually it worked for me "out of the box". I'm using v2.5 build 747 with German Interface. I've set up my browser (Opera) with the tool oget to integrate with several DL-Managers with FDM as the standard. So with right-click and "download with oget" it transfers the linke to FDM. But the renaming w...
