Re: losing a customer?

I agree that comparing editors is a BIT easier than comparing file managers. But with so many similar features in editors, it can be time consuming. Other file managers also have the flatten feature and they also have programming. Not sure how those two features combine so do not know if you would b...

Re: Drivebar drive letters inadequate

Address a drive. Assume external drive is F: then addressing a drive means typing dir F:\ in command window or in search bar of X2 or anywhere else one can enter a drive path. EXT in my example is a share name. Right Click on a drive (or a folder) click on Properties from the context menu. Click on ...

Re: Drivebar drive letters inadequate

I have noticed that if I address an external USB drive by its drive letter (F:) it typically can be made safe for removal via the standard eject in Windows 7. But if I address that same drive by a share name (EXT) it will never be safe to remove unless I shut down the computer. I can sometimes use p...

Re: losing a customer?

Kilmatead, Great picture. Thanks for sharing. So your past comments and the image they helped form in my mind, were more or less accurate. Maybe the details were slightly off but in whole, there was truth in them. As for the current day Kilmatead, you have your memories which seem to be pleasant for...

Kilmatead, So he WAS an altruistic developer of independent means. Having never met you my image of you comes mostly from comments you have made. I did not think of you as Behan on my own volition - over time your own comments created that impression. I do admit that I LIKED my image of you. When re...

Re: losing a customer?

One can get great service for free from an altruistic developer of independent means. So without knowing the financial situation of the person you mention, it is moot as related to this discussion. If you paid those farmers one time and expected produce for life, you would be very disappointed in th...

Re: losing a customer?

Nikos, My point was that a lifetime license is not in anyone's interest. It hurts the developer in the long run (though if they are unscrupulous they can get a bunch of money quickly then abandon the project) because it is not a sustainable business model especially in a niche market. It hurts the u...

Re: losing a customer?

Kilmatead has again made my point that his contributions to this forum are a big plus that other file managers just do not have. And that is not to take away from some of the posts, above, from other users. Kilmatead is correct about my affection for Macrium Reflect. I, too, just upgraded to V6. I a...

Re: losing a customer?

Over many years I have used a number of file managers. When the one I had been using made (yet another) upgrade full of bugs while not fixing previous bugs (Powerdesk) I looked around for a replacement and found X2. It was FAR better than PD, more features, more customizable, easier to use and it ca...

Re: Folder Marker

Is it possible that the author of that product was independently wealthy and created the program for fun or for the challenge, but eventually he got bored and moved on to some other adventure? Maybe the demise of the program had nothing to do with money. While I would agree if you said that people a...

Re: wot are you like

Cute family!! This really seems to have taken on a life of its own after a (I thought) simple suggestion from Nikos. There is a sense of community in knowing another person by more than just their words. Like it or not what we look like is part of who we are. And therein lies the issue. There has be...

Re: Request to see no more popup messages

Who's lifetime are we referring to - yours or ours?

If it is yours, then we are all being treated the same. If it is ours, then the older among us should get a discount!

Your wife told you that slow is better, didn't she? In computers, fast is better. Reliability is expected in all cases.
