Re: RegEx Rename fail in 4.3

Hi hajubu! Thanks for checking and confirming this! Hi Nikos! Thanks for the link to the syntax you're using. This page (http://www.regexlab.com/en/deelx/syntax/bas_esc.htm) suggests that characters can be upper- or lower-cased using quoted characters (beginning with \U or \L, and ending with \E). I...

RegEx Rename fail in 4.3

The arrival of RegEx for Mass Rename is most welcome, but alas! my first test out of the box was a fail. I tried renaming camelCase to snake_case, and vice versa. Here's what happened: filename = camelCaseToSnakeCase.txt regexp = (.+?)([A-Z]) replace with = $1_$2 expected result = camel_Case_To_Snak...

Re: feedback required: scripting xplorer2

Longfellow let me put it another way, is there anything AHK cannot do for you or you envisage having it simplified? A good question! I have to say my needs are simple, maybe I am not the best one to ask. Being able to address specific panes and tabs more easily would be nice. But you raise a good p...

Re: feedback required: scripting xplorer2

For years now I've been using AHK for my x2 scripting needs; I don't think I'd bother to learn a custom scripting language just to redo what's already working for me. If you want a bigger project File > Mass rename… , could do a lot more, like change capitalization ect. +1! I think the Mass renamer ...

Re: win10, they just don't get it

Nikos, consider using the GWX Control Panel: http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/.

This tool blocks Win 10 updates, as well as removing any that are currently on your system. I've been using it on my comp for months, no problems.

I've been using the beta since the weekend without problems. Nice. I like the drop-down in the mass rename dialog, very useful. The ability to safely remove hardware from the drivebar is very welcome.

Re: PDF viewers overview

if anyone is using some other popular reader and are happy with it, please let me know, especially if it is shell integrated, that is enables text searches in PDFs, and the Native preview tab in xplorer2 works I've been using SumatraPDF for years now, and it works a treat with x2. Shell integration...

Re: Syncing folders that have renamed files and subfolders

The main thing is, can it deal with a file that you moved to another folder? On first glance the comparison features look good but AFAIK renaming or altering a file is a completely different thing from moving it to another folder. Yes, indeed, it will recognize all the changes you mention. Before s...

Re: Syncing folders that have renamed files and subfolders

Have you considered using a dedicated synchronization tool, such as Beyond Compare? I use this to mirror various folders from my main drive to an external drive for backup. Works fine on my mp3s; catches additions, deletions, tag edits, cover art changes, etc. Might be what you need.

Re: 7zNSE beta 1006

I hadn't heard it called a "sting" before, but I like it. I always called it a "rim shot" (because it involves hitting the metal rim of the snare at the same time as the drum head). Technically speaking, the rimshot is part of the sting (the dum part of ba-dum-tsh ). Though one ...

Re: 7zNSE beta 1006

You know that drum-snare sound you get when someone drops a deadpan joke and the room is silent? That sound is called a "sting". ba-dum-tss , just as Tuxman says. Not sure of the etymology of the term, but its usage dates back to vaudeville and the circuses of the 19th century. Apparently...

Re: ribbon head count

I've got the ribbon turned off. I just don't find it an efficient way to interact with the program. In particular, user commands are harder to access in the ribbon than they are in the menu. I suppose I'd be more inclined to use the ribbon if it were customizable, there might be some interesting pos...
