2x offers an unsorted option in the "sort by" menu, where you'll see items as they appear in your hard disc. However then you lose sorting altogether, i.e. no more alphabetical by name...

Can these be turned off in XP?

yes, see FAQ # 25

however, 2x at present does not get into these for searching files by name, so if you do a search within 2x it should be as fast as always

thanks for the links, I am aware of available options still, when you download these "customizable" classes, you realize that most are either half-baked or over-engineered (at the opposite end). I don't want a class for toolbars that is greater in size than the whole 2xExplorer, surely! ;)...

not my fault dudes, MFC's toolbar framework is far from perfect (a.k.a. bug-ridden). if weird things happen there's no other way than deleting registry keys (explained in FAQ# 11 for a similar problem).
