A "reproducible error" is the hobgoblin of a weak mind.  A REAL programmer does not need the crutch of  a reproducible error to debug their software...While a reproducible error is nice to have, it should not be a requirement.  I'm just sayin.  :D A reproducible error is that which can of...

the advantage i can think of in this particular case is that you can use the filter box (see the pic) to find a setting you need! I support this settings box, if for nothing else, because it has some sort of 'option search' feature :=) However, it doesn't seem worth re-developing all your existing ...

not everybody can change policies, e.g. anyone with win7 home version. Not to mention that most people never heard of policies :) Workaround for the unfortunate Win7 Home Premium users out there. 8) No, it's not straightforward or intuitive, however, if you've never heard of the Windows Registry or...

[Blog Post]...Symbolic links were considered inferior because to create one you need full administrator rights... Creating SymLinks require admin by default , but this behavior is a security policy which can be changed.   How-To or google 'SeCreateSymbolicLinkPrivilege' for further research. I regr...

I'm glad nikos integrated WDS into Xplorer2, especially in the way he did.  I'm perfectly happy to have it start with a fast WDS test, as long as it falls back to the trusty robust seach when things get missed or RegEx are needed.

Good Work, nikos!

i'm wondering if the lack of feedback is due to * nobody tried the beta * nobody cares about fast search * it works perfectly :?: Slightly surprisingly, I'm in the #2 category.  I tend to try and organize my files well enough where I don't need to search most of the time, and on the occasion I do n...

...was a closer look at metro...wait till you see how you are meant to write code for it! The ultimate in paranoia.... I'd rather not hurt myself that much... Try to keep your spirits up.  From what I gather, it's just another way to write small, basic apps and a central storefront to put them.  We...

Oh my, Thracx, you paid money for Angry Birds? Get an Android device, pal. Also, Vista does not stink. You can pretty much make it rock, it only takes you some time. heh, sorry to mislead you with my comedy remarks... The Angry Birds comment was meant to be as-if from the average App Store customer...

Good Blog Post

Well written blog post, I like the dream presentation.  Win8 is scary, but we know how it goes - Windows alternatives between good and bad releases.  WinXP was great, but Vista stunk.  Win7 is great, but Win8 stinks.  And if you go way back in time, WinXP was really just a Win2000 SP, with WinME bei...

Yes, you can add a bookmark to "%UserProfile%\Documents", or you can expand the tree and see your username - expand that, and 'Documents' should be there.  Only 1 layer deeper than you're used to.

...If you leave that box checked...it means it's supposed to not show it again... I recall the opposite behavior - you need to  uncheck the box to cause it to not show again (contrary to what it says).  I think this is also what WWY is saying, but with all these double negatives and such, I don't t...

Re: Oh, this is perverse

So I am going to guess ..that if you don't check that box off, the message will go away. I recall seeing this happen to me before, I believe it was on the Tips of the Day but I could be mistaken.  I also recall being annoyed at an OK or Cancel prompt where both buttons did the same thing. Glad you ...
