thanks for the links, I am aware of available options still, when you download these "customizable" classes, you realize that most are either half-baked or over-engineered (at the opposite end). I don't want a class for toolbars that is greater in size than the whole 2xExplorer, surely! ;)...

our saviour! :) talking about upgrades, I have noticed that when I click on "Mark all forum posts as read" within some particular forum, it clears all forums (e.g. both 2xEditor & 2xExplorer) is that by design or is it perhaps some "feature" like what I did with window...

not my fault dudes, MFC's toolbar framework is far from perfect (a.k.a. bug-ridden). if weird things happen there's no other way than deleting registry keys (explained in FAQ# 11 for a similar problem). Is that lame or what? ;) what i would recommend is to arrange the toolbars the way you want them ...

drivebar looks like a throwback from the past millenium, doesn't it? (well actually it was made in the last millenium :) ) no solution there i'm afraid, you'd have to quit/restart as you mentioned, until I come up with a more intelligent design. Note that the tree on the other hand does detect the a...

the current mode is displayed in the last pane of the status bar: UC - Unicode text LF - Unix text (LF only at the EOL) otherwise it's normal windows text ed2 figures the appropriate mode automatically when loading the file. To convert into a different one, just use the combo box at th...

by the way, i found a quick patch that works for my XP, and incorporated it in this provisional version 1.3.1.9 people who had problems with the old version in this respect are encouraged to try it out and let me know...

Being a laggard, I usually get a new windows OS 2-3 years after it is released :) but this time with XP it was different: I was landed with a copy which I didn't have any reason to refuse However it has turned out to be a bitter gift, since I've realized that not all's well with XP and the zipfolder...

you need to switch to editor2, which properly recognizes Unix text files (as well as windows and unicode) and can convert to a different mode, too

emptying the trash can is easy:
either in 2x or on your desktop, right-click and pick "Empty", surely this is no big trouble? :)

(so you are Greek then, are you not? ;) ) I've heard about these 4DOS-type comments in the past, although I haven't seen them with my eyes. Can you see these in the standard explorer? Well, I was planning to introduce the standard windows (post-2000) comments that are supported for NTFS drives --- y...

> menu item to launch a new instance instead?

that's coming (i think) in the next version, more or less the way explorer does it

> command line switch to launch the find tool?

how would that work then? (and why?)

i take it you mean filenames etc in the left/right panes come out wrong (?) i wouldn't know for sure but 2x uses whatever fonts your desktop (explorer) uses, so it shouldn't have problems. I have seen some program snapshots with easte...
