Re: .tib-files (Acronis True Image)

I just want to add Amen to Kilmatead's comments on Macrium Reflect. As I said in the link he provided in his last post, it is not much different than other backup programs in features, but the COMPANY is WAY more responsive. They occasionally come out with an update which has some issues for a FEW u...

Re: xp2KeyCrypt 1.3 Final (Unicode) - August 5, 2013

It is NOT about making ones life harder, it is about learning the basics of ones craft - and programming is more an art than a science. Assembler gives one a perspective and an insight into the workings of the beast that one does not get from a high level language. Again, I was not suggesting the us...

Re: xp2KeyCrypt 1.3 FINAL - August 5, 2013

If someone is not willing and able to learn assembler language they should not be allowed to be a programmer. AFTER they learn assembler AND have written at least 10,000 lines of production code, then they can be allowed to start learning and working in a higher level language. We would have much be...

My vote is for: Ambiguously Apropos Musings on the Art of File Management

it seems like it would accurately describe the contents.

Re: Upgrade Xplorer²(v2.1.0.1-1) UserManual?

Kilmatead, Not wanting to miss out on the opportunity to learn new things that you lay before me in your posts, I dutifully follow the breadcrumbs (links) you include. However I was unable to make sense of the "behind the masque" in the link for "proper". There was nothing there ...

Re: Upgrade Xplorer²(v2.1.0.1-1) UserManual?

Kilmatead, thank you for the information and corrections. I did not realize that the manual was a community project done mostly by one user. As I said, it was very well done. I did read/skim through it at least once and referred to it a few times when I first started using X2. Unfortunately for me, ...

Re: Upgrade Xplorer²(v2.1.0.1-1) UserManual?

A poorly written manually is not worth the time to read and certainly not worth the time to write. However a well written manual can be very helpful. Having had the position of both programmer and documenter for more than one piece of software, I am painfully aware of the huge time commitment that a...

Re: Ease of keyboard navigation

Ross, Setting up custom ribbon layouts are fine if you are working on your own and only use your own computer. Think about the mess of this if you are in tech support or have clients with questions about using an Office product and you have customized your version - and they did not (or vice versa)....

Re: Ease of keyboard navigation

Ribbons - at least as MS implements them are NOT intuitive - at least not to me. I Have great difficulty finding some things that used to be easy to find with the old Menu structure in Office programs. True I do not use Office on a daily basis. If I did I would eventually get used to the ribbon layo...

Status bar text

The status bar text (at the bottom of the window) runs together when I make a selection of multiple files.  The info for the selected file does not fit (the M in PM is partly cut off) and runs into the count of files selected and total size.  Is there a way to move the sections of text over on the s...

OK, back to the topic of doing backups with image rather than file/folder. If my system has a problem (be if from a virus, a newly installed program or self inflicted) it is just pure luck if a file/folder restore can fix the problem.  They are fine for recovering lost or corrupted data.  But if my ...

Thanks for your cheers! The Reflect forum is one of the others that I read daily.  I don't see you there unless you use a different pseudonym.  It is indeed a great program - and it has saved my bacon (and that of my clients) multiple times.
