unfortunately this is a problem with your system
x2 uses a "smarter" autorefresh than 2x which is the same used by explorer
the only thing i could recommend is to do a search in google groups for people that have the same problem -- ideas may come up

if you say that you deleted all the registry key info (did you quit x2 first?) and still didn't get autorefresh, something's seriously wrong. Autorefresh is on by default 1. does your regular explorer autorefresh? 2. is the failure in x2 total or only for some folders? 3. does manual refresh Ctrl+R ...

2x can't help you but there are shell context menu extensions that can copy paths in a variety of formats. I'm sure narayan knows which one you need!

was it a deep subfolder or just one level down from root?
i would understand a failure to read but the BSOD seems a bit far-fetched. Does this happen every time?

please give the new xplorer2 a try to see if it gets better

you can try experimenting with what duggy says, you'll have a conviction-shaking experience :) Put a program on a floppy, create a shortcut to it on some folder in c:\, then try reading c:\ and look what happens

could it be that GeoShell needs to provide the correct substructure for shell explorers instead? :) x2 reads the icons with IShellIcon (and SHGetFileInfo as a fall-back) which return indices in the system image list. How can things go wrong? It's hard to tell without a test harness. All I can say is...

to change any registry setting you have to quit x2 first
the autorefresh should work automatically; try a reboot!
