Re: Khronos: A Plugin for Ageing Gracefully

Version 0.0.2.5 is now available (see links in original post at the top of this thread), bringing a few new features, efficiency improvements, bugfixes, etc. To update, just use the x2 Plugin Manager to disable the plugin, replace the file with the new one, then re-enable it. Any previously modified...

I pull my own weight, Jo-jo, and I (almost) always carry through all my threats. If you had just put it under the Edit menu where it belongs this thread would be a lot shorter...

Re: xplorer2 v3.5 final released

for other colors you'd need AHK or something equivalent No you don't, it's just 39000 + x where x is 1 for Kinky Chartreuse, 2 for Gross Green, 3 for Blue Bayou, etc. I found it easier to just recreate the context menu as a toolbar button instead. Sooner or later I'll add a real customising option,...

Re: How to update my portable version?

As to your "moral insights", thanks for sharing, but... Don't get me wrong - when given a choice of using software, 9 times out of 10 I will also choose the portable option where one is available... they tend to be easier to backup and restore to other systems as needs be, and generally p...

Re: not receiving email notifications

Yeah, this is really rather annoying - I too, have not received any email notifications from the forum since August 16th. This applies to everything from normal subscriptions (specific threads the user has posted within) to private messages. If it's broken for everyone, there's no way to know of rep...

Re: Turn off alert sound when opening new folder

This is in no way normal behaviour, and is indicative of something (a misbehaving shell-extension?) specific to your system. What is the error/warning message reported in x2's status-bar (View -> Toolbars -> Status bar) when the sound occurs? Just browsing folders should have no such side-effects. W...

Re: How to update my portable version?

I've never seen a portable app that needs to be installed first. The ultimate version is not a "portable app" out of the box per se, simply a version which allows the conversion into one. There are essentially two ways to update a portable install: 1. Install the new version on a host (yo...

Re: Bookmarks/Favorite Folders IN GROUPS?

Can I or is there a way to bookmark a GROUP of folder tabs? Customise -> Folder Groups -> Add Current "Folder Groups" are, despite inclement nomenclature, the collected set of folder tabs open in the current pane, so they may be saved/recalled collectively whenever you want. You are not l...

Re: clicking and dragging to select files

A little searching reminds me that this is the result of an absurd change back in version 3.3.0.0: * Easier to access background menu (right click "nowhere" in a folder view) and do lasso (marquee) selection if you click the mouse on the empty space to the right of a filename. Works even i...

Re: blog: optimal I/O buffer size, revisited

There is anecdotal evidence that supports your experience, so I don't doubt that the Loch Ness Monster could be somebody's secret love-child , but as long as no one goes looking for verifiable reasons why it might be so, it's harmless enough to swim in deep waters, though it will undeniably sl...

Re: Namespace extensions and/or Total Commander plugins?

Can I use 7z NSE for archives and TC plugins for other purposes at the same time? Note that both 7zNSE and plugins allow themselves to be separately targeted at specific (file-extension) types, so from that point of view if you (for some reason) use 7zNSE for handling RAR and ZIP's, but a plugin fo...

Re: blog: optimal I/O buffer size, revisited

I use it prior to accessing my NAS with X2, it speeds things up considerably. As the Laws of Unintended Consequences go, that sounds more like a speeding ticket making you late for your wedding, and thus annoying your flibbertigibbet fiancée so much that she rejects you for a South-American dwarf-t...

Re: Are custom macros possible in x2?

It's just that I noticed the custom user commands option but haven't a clue how to use it. Custom user-commands are more of an "on demand" programme-launch type of paradigm, rather than a scheduler-based one. For example, if you needed to select a group of .MP4 files and convert them (usi...
