Re: Painless Custom Toolbars (No Morphine/Tourniquets Required)
Not possible (without lots of penicillin and quantum-gymnastics), sorry. Toolbar contents are all tucked away within x2's binary chastity belt, and messing with alternate-layout registry/INI contents is a recipe for chlamydia, syphilis, and all sorts of un-fun gifts that no knight-errant would ever ...

Re: Folder shortcuts on toolbar
You can create a toolbar button that provides a menu of bookmarks. Yeah, an alternate concept there would be quite simple - just inject a selected-path into the addressbar and away you go. It would be easy enough to create a bespoke/dedicated 3rd-party thing for that... re-inventing the wheel, so t...

Re: Folder shortcuts on toolbar
Organisationally-Challenged Power Users excluded , of course. :D (And that's after upping the default 20 "Custom Menu Items" limit in the first place...) Maybe the mini-scrap method is best for that kind of thing? Unwieldy either way, as scaling goes, really. (Though didn't Nikos s...

Re: Folder shortcuts on toolbar
Just create bookmarks (single or dual) of each folder you wish to add, using Bookmarks -> Add Current . Once done, right-click the toolbar you wish to add them to and select " Customize... ", then find the bookmarks you just made in the left column of the window that opened, and add them t...

Re: simple scripting, part 1
I have read the fine, fine, manual, and I've been a-pushin' and a-poppin' registers since you were hiding under the reeds of your mud-hut frightened of Ο Γάτος Με Το Καπέλο! And since I never liked the back-asswards (or ass-backwards) ways that registers work, my brain naturally rebels and defaults ...

Re: simple scripting, part 1
As the loop is $2 dependant, what's the $1 used for? Its value is the stored window and popped... some kind of SetFocus-equivalent or something, so the loop doesn't go errantly walkabout singing its merry song to all and sundry? Isn't that what parentwnd is for?

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
That's probably just your man's way at getting back for the Win10'S'-Fork distro-snub . The WIn PE header for DLL's is really pretty simple, so I'm not surprised someone started playing around with it... though whether the odd errant NTFS function would find EXT4 sexually attractive or not is always...

Re: Files disappear after revert
did I say that there is a delay of 0.5 second (default) where the "smart" system waits till it acts on the change? Ah hah! So I wasn't just saying incantations to resurrect Aristotle for nothing! No, you neglected to mention that subsection of the fine-print. I'm thinking that your origin...

Re: Files disappear after revert
Ah, an answer that only a mother could love. :D That I obviously do notice (and can measure) the difference, and that the results seem antithetical to your premise is only more sugar on my corn-flakes. Since I've been using this setting... well, forever... and my first foray into not using it result...

Re: Files disappear after revert
note that this makes all refreshes a bit slower I was curious about this, as I have had this option ticked for the last few years (I unapologetically always run as Admin), so it seemed reasonable to wonder what actual delays might be entailed. A quick, not especially "controlled" experime...

Re: Shrunken toolbar icons and text
...those settings were in Layout Settings and not Global tab on my version. Oops, sorry about that. (Corrected in original post.) What kind of multi-tab control opens by default to the second page? As usual, I just blame Nikos for all the woes in this life. :D To be honest, there is zero benefit to...

Re: how to subscribe to forums or topics
I'll try this for a while. It can be rather entertaining when a spam-bot gets in overnight and resurrects 10 old threads (thus sending you 10 useless emails), but the actual new posts themselves may have been deleted by morning (by an attentive moderator), so you end up with 10 emails linking to he...

Re: Shrunken toolbar icons and text
You may also use Tools -> Advanced Options -> Layout Settings (tab) -> Max Button Width and/or Toolbar Font Size Factor to Normal to adjust the allotted space and fonts to fit toolbar buttons. Also, just right-clicking on a toolbar and disabling the Small Icons checkbox (which defaults to on for som...

Re: how to subscribe to forums or topics
Works fine for me... the link for specific forum subscribing is just a checkbox at the very bottom of the initial page... http://i1109.photobucket.com/albums/h440/Kilmatead/x2Subs_2.png ...to subscribe to individual threads (in forums to which you have not generally subscribed), that is in the dropd...

Re: Windows Defender and xplorer2
...until the next time I reinstall Windows. Somewhat off-topic, but it's curious that MS is going out of its way to make that time-honoured task a more and more problematic thing to do by (literally) blocking updates for newer hardware. And, even more irrationally, actually blocking updates for Win...
