Re: deskrule beta with vertical UI
Hi Nikos, I've just installed the beta and it works. I see the limitations you mentioned, but the idea is good. I think the vertical layout makes more sense as it organizes the search steps from left to right, although this might be a cultural bias. I don't have a high DPI monitor, so I can't give y...

Re: CSV Export: Format Cells in Excel ? (or MS Excel Question)
Hi,
1. Copy and paste the data in a plain text file.
2. In Excel, go to "Data" tab and select "From Text/CSV), select the text file from step 1, and follow the wizard.

Re: folder tree filtering
Hi Nikos, What about getting rid of this Windows folder that, at least for me are useless: 3D Objects, Documents, Music, Downloads, Pictures, Videos, Libraries... At the same time it would be nice to add folders you usually access (complementing bookmarks). Maybe adding a container of custom folders...

Nice and useful blog Nikos!
I use frequently filters both in x2 and Excel, they are really handy for many purposes.

Re: deskrule 2.03 released
Hi Nikos, I really appreciate your effort but, to be honest, I'm not really sure it works out well for DeskRule. While I'm using Firefox to write this post, I realize they use some black color around 90%, which is more like a really dark gray in the end. Can I suggest you to try maybe 90% black inst...

Re: What is the meaning of "\\?\" at the beginning of paths?
I was just copying some files and found two of them were over 255. X2 works perfectly with them, but not the third party software.
Thanks for your confirmation!

What is the meaning of "\\?\" at the beginning of paths?
Hi,
Anyone knows what does it mean to have "\\?\" at the beginning of paths?
For instance: \\?\E:\Folder1\Folder2\file.txt
Thanks

Re: Can you save the list of files you get when you search something?
Hi Telemacus, You can save the results of your search into .cida files. Then, if you would like to review the results later, you just need to create a new "scrap" window and load the contents of that .cida file instantly. The good thing is that you can change the parameters of the search a...

Re: Get list of recently modified files
Woo! I finally found it!
Here's the command:
xcopy %source_folder% %destination_folder% /d:%MM-DD-YYYY% /s /i
This copies the files and folders created after the given date and keeps the folder structure in the destination.
Hope it helps someone in the future

Re: Get list of recently modified files
Hi Nikos, that's not bad at all, but it's not what I'm looking for. Now, using this batch file I'm able to compress in a 7zip file the full contents of C:/Data. The next approach I want is to just archive the files modified over the last week in that same folder. This is so easy with x2, but I'd lik...

Get list of recently modified files
Hi, I have created a batch script to backup into 7z files the contents of one specific folder, let's say: C:/Data With that I'm able to create full backups but I would also like to create differential backups, only including the files modified in the previous day. I've found this page: https://www.w...
