One of the sweetest things offered by 2xExplorer are these little things called wildcards (also known as filters, templates etc). Wildcards are shorthands for matching a range of strings or names. They are used all over the place in 2x, e.g. for selecting a subset of the files shown. Wildcards are c...

no you need to go the system way -- use Start | Folder options if you can't stand the regular explorer sight :). Another option would be to use the registry directly to edit the relevant key e.g. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile\shell\open, but I'd only recommend that to people with substantial</...

Dwukwiat (love the cartman avatar :) ) 2x has problems with large numbers arithmetic (still stuck at third grade, see? ;) ) It just can't count above 4GB, the limit that would fit in 4 bytes (= 2^31 - 1). Weak! The only exception is the free space shown on the status bar, which is done correctly usi...

rogthefrog

i bet your problem is not the hilighting; you must be using the folder object someplace else (even within 2xExplorer, e.g. the other pane), that's why you get the sharing violation and are unable to delete it.

do all such shortcuts cause a crash or is it only a few network links that cause trouble (if so what are these networks? --- unix etc).

If you try double-clicking the same troublesome shortcuts from windows explorer, do you get any error messages?

Oh, and Nikos--I'm still waiting.... waiting for Godo I presume? :) dude, it seems that you found the solution already! adding this option to 2x, well eventually I'll do it, but if you take a look at my TODO list, you'll see that there are many more things pending... personally i don't use th...

have you noticed any pattern in the crashes? (e.g. browsing some particular directory or some folder with a particular kind of files)

is there any course of actions that is guaranteed to reproduce the crashes?

let's wait and see how this goes. If it gets really big and messy I'll ask Sal to have it broken down to smaller bits (one for the editor etc)

Well, the forum seems to be quite busy, notwithstanding that more people seem to be browsing than actually posting (I hope you're not put off by the registration requirement, it's really easy and it's an one-off thing!) I had a few ideas about the content of this forum. Obviously the questions and a...

i see what you mean. I have fixed this problem with 2xExplorer's internal viewer but it seems to have slipped in the stand alone Editor². Thanks for bringing that up, i'll fix it.
