Re: I'm slow, but now so's the computer. HELP!!

Should further mention that drives C, D and E are partioned onto a 120G OCZ-SOLID2 SSD. I know the very early runs tended to die an early death. But this one comes from the follow-up batches and SHOULD have a longer than 3=year life span.

Re: I'm slow, but now so's the computer. HELP!!

Kilmatead,

Sadly, the MemTest86+ 4.20 did manage to complete three passes of all 12G of memory with nary an error. Again. But I thought it worth a try. Any more directions to venture?

I'm slow, but now so's the computer. HELP!!

Hi all, Been absent around here for a bit. My eyesite has detoriated so please bear me with me if things look a little ... odd. Well, odder than usual. I have my first eye surgery in 10 days time, followed, hopefully, with the other scrutinizer getting fixed in September. (always helps to plead infi...

Indeed, I did miss the paste structure command. Interesting. That said, I've already set up the method outlined above and it works. Click on the MyStuff folder, click on the little button with the plus sign, Big F and little F and automagically, It asks for a name and then I'm done. Took doing the c...

Thanks for the tip. I start a project for programming by creating some cleverly named folder (Gary'sTest#1 for example) and then immediately create Data, Proj and Rez subfolders. A bit boring and certainly not time-consuming. But it's awfully nice to have a one click solution that takes a single nam...

Nikos,

Hmmm, parent to a recent new-born, an active career answering emails from the likes of me, while developing my most oft-used software. And you AREN'T using your Kindle for hours a day?

 Hmmmmm, GM

Nikos,  Calibre is, at it's heart, a database. It arranges for a book to be stored in a series of folders (your pick of location). Let's say you use a folder called C:\books. There will then be a sub-folder system based on author names (unfortunately, their first and then last names). Then inside ea...

Nikos,  When you press the flatten view window while a folder is selected in the tree view, you get a new window (indeed a scrap window), with all of the files in that branch of the tree.  The flattened view comes automatically with a details pane. DO NOT WANT THAT PAINE. I automatically close the p...

Details pane unwanted in Flatten view

I 'know' the setting is hiding in plain sight. But I can't seem to find the checkbox that will stop Details Pane from automatically showing up whenever I run a Flatten View. It's not exactly back-breaking work to click the X in the pane, but it's irksome. I only ever really use the Flatten View when...

Kilmatead,  Thanks. Forums lead to forums. In an ever tightening circle, I hope. But being the laziest man alive, I'm actually looking forward to this little issue. My only issue, guessing ahead, is that the installers won't be so much a series of separate windows with specific names, as a series of...

Kilmatead,  Okay, so that I know there is promise in the land ahead, the rough idea is to use Ketarin to download the latest version of the programs into an UPDATES folder, using same name each time, rather than saving it a name that includes version number. I would then use the run after downloadin...

Re: ebooks anyone?

but I came looking for the right place to put a question non-x2 related to our Irish curmudgeon (Ya, I'm talking about you, K) You know, the defining feature of Curmudgeons ... Which is the saddest song?  Mine of authentic loss, or yours, of electronic gain? :D Oh, tis very sad indeed to scoff at t...

Worked on a computer with Q-Dir as the file manager and the checkbox option turned on. For a whole day. Spent the next week in hospital recovering. The people who voted FOR the checkbox option are deluded and dangerous to society on the whole. I could assail their intelligence and desire to destroy ...

Will AutoHotKey or AutoIt help during program installers>

Hi all, but 'specially you Kilmatead,  I have an ungodly number of programs installed on my computer. With very, very few exceptions, NONE are installed in the default Microsoft Program Files sub-system. No, they get installed into F:\apps, where gawd (that would be ME) intended all MY programs to b...
