Gandolf, what kind of operations do you have <ctrl>+<alt>+<arrows> mapped to, and how did you make those assignments? I've never explicitly mapped them to any other program, and they don't seem to do anything whether inside or outside xplorer2.  I've stopped my background applications (HotSync for a...

Well, I'll have to see if I can find anything about this in Microsoftland, though I shudder at the thought of the effort entailed and will probably put it off for a decade or two.  Maybe there's a "tweak" or two for playing with the sorting order, though I hate applying them. I certainly a...

Egad... what zippy replies from nikos & fgagnon!  Happiness & health to you both! :D Though it still didn't work.  Numlock on or off, arrow pad keys or number pad keys... I tried them all before posting.  I also ran through all the places where a user can make customized key assignments but....

Setting the background color when a visual filter is active

Just a word of thanks to Nikos for adding a registry option allowing one to set the background color of a filtered pane.  It took awhile for me to find this in one of fgagnon's posts... one can set the registry key " rgbFilterBgcol ".  It isn't in the user manual yet, at least not in versi...

My <ctrl/alt/arrow-keys> don't do anything on the tabs

I remember finding that in the manual, but it didn't work for me then and still doesn't now (version 1.3.0.3 Unicode). :(   Any suggestion?

(By the way, the introduction of tabs is the most brilliant new feature of an already brilliant program.)

Dots (".") in folder names shouldn't be seen as ex

This is a suggestion for rationalizing the way folder names containing dots (".") are handled.  There have been quite a few threads on one or another aspect of the topic, and I think that they all stem from a single design decision... to treat folder names and file names identically. To su...

Filename sorting order using the hyphen ("-")

I like a straightforward, character-by-character, lexical sorting order for filename lists.  I notice, however, that hyphens ("-") are treated specially... they seem to be ignored when comparing he lexical precedence of two filenames. Here's an example of three filenames each containing tw...

Again, many thanks, ckit.  I haven't thought to check the current versions of those programs.  I use 3 of them already and all were out of date.  I'm taking a look at the others too thanks to you. fgagnon, I confess I did look at the disk activity light a couple of times before finally deciding that...

Frogblast may have a fairly specific display preference, but I think his desire to be able to easily recall a rule-based search (or just to re-enter the option without going through a two-step menu selction) is valid and of general interest.  As he wrote: Pressing Ctrl+J immediately after starting x...

I wrote a long posting last October (03/10/04) one of whose subjects was a suggestion for the use of regular expression matches in the visual filter and batch-renaming facilities.  I assumed I was alone in wanting this until I noticed Antroy's posting. Nikos's response is much the same as before... ...

Thanks ckit!  Very very much.  Seeing something like that makes me feel like I'm standing naked in the middle of the highway!  I'll update my Mozilla & Java packages right away. And I echo your suggestion to Nikos & Co. to update their version of phpBB... I've just been looking through their...

Would somebody mind reassuring me please about the icons I see in the middle of every posting by JasonDax?  The damn thing has a picture of a signboard (subtitled "danasoft.com"), and the text in the sign has changed three times... First javascript:emoticon(':(') Sad :   You are 81.64.201....

Noticing when there's a filter active

I've been using x2 for nearly a year now and I would like to echo Astuur's request that the presence of an active visual filter be more obvious (Astuur suggested that the funnel's color be red). When I was a new user, I had the panicky experience of thinking I had zapped a bunch of files which I act...
