Re: blog: epub ebook text filter

xplorer2 uses the filter plugin for draft text previews. For the NATIVE preview tab you will see there's nothing displayed for EPUB, like windows explorer. @ nikos - might want to change your blog post then: It delivers plain text previews and fast indexed search in EPUB documents, with xplorer², w...

Re: blog: epub ebook text filter

I don't think windows explorer will use text filters for previews but did you see the other blog post about epub thumbnails? I saw the one about thumbnails but I assume that's about cover images, I rip them out of epubs - remember I'm an iconoclast. Where do the EPUB previews come from, i.e. what d...

Re: blog: epub ebook text filter

Ok so I can view a epub in view in a most basic way, Can I edit the book, can I modify the book, can I save the book in any format I desire, can I modify the book's TOC, can I modify the cover, can I replace the cover, can I remove blank spaces between paragraphs, can I check the epub for correct l...

You don't need to reinstall windows - its in Settings, you need to pgdn to see it.

Re: X2 Crashing

Sods Law says it will stop happening now I've told someone about it :) Maybe Sod was looking over my shoulder - hasn't happened since that post. I did change something though. Because it only crashed when it was minimised, I changed the taskbar shortcut to start it minimised, at the time there was ...

Re: X2 Crashing

If the problem persists and especially if its frequency increases I'll try that. It's very intermittent, once or twice a week at the most, and because it's so easily overcome I'm not inclined to change things on spec. I was really only wondering if anyone has had X2, or anything else, crashing like ...

Re: lite v3.3 in the store

you need windows 10 version 1607 (anniversary) or better. Did you opt out from it? It was offered as an update last july No as I said I deferred it, that might be a Pro only feature. https://8-t.imgbox.com/PI8UJbWC.jpg I think it'll offer itself again early in the New Year. 1607 Enterprise has only...

Re: X2 Crashing

try HELP >CRASH INFORMATION menu command then email me the dump file found That cupboard is bare. On reflection I think the actual msg is "xplorer2.exe has stopped working". Because it happens sporadically when I've parked X2, and never when I'm using it, I figure its one of the 'backgrou...

Re: lite v3.3 in the store

Nikos, if it had the details panel I might even use it. I have AU on defer so I couldn't download it, well I assume that's why. M$ claimed I didn't have the requisite hardware. What does it want? An i7 6950X EE and a Terabyte of RAM. They missed an opportunity to offer me AU. It doesn't say it needs...

X2 Crashing

Over past month or so X2 has been crashing quite often, previously X2 never crashed. But it's not when I'm using it, it's always when I'm not using it, and often as not its when it's minimised. There's no apparent pattern such as:- it crashes when I'm using Outlook, or Firefox, or Notepad++, or Unit...

Re: Crash when NTFS long paths are enabled

The 260 character limit is/was a legacy of HPFS, the native OS/2 file system (circa 1989) ==> High Performance File System

When I first saw reference to "Windows 10 AU" I wondered if MS were producing country specific versions

Re: for what is the net.exe in xplorer² ?

Perhaps a hardlink to net.exe in Windows/System32 has crept into the zabkat\xplorer2 folder. X2 can show a Links (hardlink count) column, if its greater than 1 then that's what it it is. Any way its got no business being there - so delete it. It's a tool for system administrators, mainly used on ser...

Re: Compare all contents of 2 folders including subfolders?

I know [ SOME ] people don't like having 3rd-party suggestions pushed at them, but there's a reason complex operations like these which require a whole separate display paradigm are best handled ex parte. I for one prefer a single purpose tools rather than multi purpose tools, that's not to say I d...

Re: blog: column handlers are back

As the comment data is (mostly) stored within Alternate Data Streams (ADS) it naturally will not survive transfers to older FAT32 disc formats. Ditto for cloud stores and FTP services. Many (most?) file based backup/restore solutions know diddly-squat about them. Same for android/ios phones and tab...
