There's an option when zipping files using winzip to exclude hidden and system files. Its default setting is to include these files. Just switch it off (somewhere in the 'Add files' dialog). This will effectively skip desktop.ini (and all other files with the system and/or hidden attribute, that's ...

Saving folder settings
Greetings-- Well, I am no programmer at all, I am only computer-literate enough (?) to think of a few alternative solutions. xplorer² could use the registry to store these settings. But too many registry settings tend to slow down the global Windows system. Or use a centralized INI file in xplorer² ...

Problem with Actions > Folder settings > Save
Greetings-- A desktop.ini file is created in the corresponding folder each time Actions > Folder settings > Save is used. These desktop.ini files are "super" system files which are normally hidden from view. As a matter of fact, the View > Show all command does not display them. They only ...

Comparative speed between 2xplorer and xplorer²
Greetings-- Obviously, display speed of any application is heavily dependent on the system hardware. Plenty of video memory and a fast quality video card with adequate settings most certainly help. An adequate amount of memory banks might help too. Windows XP needs 512 Mb to work at ease. The video ...

Re: seems rather odd
I guess in that case, Robert, I could create a USER COMMAND like: > C:\Program Files\zabkat\xplorer2\xplorer2_UC.exe C:\ F: and run it right within xplorer. That works. Greetings-- Yes, that works, but I prefer the global WinKey shortcuts on 2 counts: 1) I can launch xplorer² straightaway with the ...

Finding duplicate files based on content
no, it's not limited to file type at all. Please read the section "Detecting duplicate files" in the Quick Start Guide for more information. :) Greetings-- 1) As dumb as I might have sounded, I had still read all the available documentation (including the "xplorer² Quick Start Guide&...

Re: Looks like I don't get it yet
Here's the thing: I set up one pane to show C:\ I set up the other pane to show d:\ I save the layout in windows > save layout and I call it showcd I click on Windows > showcd and it opens a new instance of xplorer but not the c: in one pane and d: in the other. It doesn't make sense really of what...

Can the Sync Wizard compare HTML files content?
Greetings-- I wanted to compare two different folders containing HTML files. Most of the files were identical from one folder to the other. I used the Sync Wizard to compare these 2 folders based on file content. xplorer² Pro reported no identical files. I then used the Sync Wizard to compare these ...

Scrap containers: on top or not on top? (2)
the idea behind ctrl+S is that you may want to add more than one "batch" of items to a scrap, that's why it leaves it behind the main window so you can continue gathering items and ctrl+S'ing them when you are done, usually an Alt+Tab will take you to the scrap window, or use Ctrl+W Greet...

Scrap containers: on top or not on top?
Greetings-- When we use the Tools | Find Files command to search for a text string, we get the results in a scrap window that has top focus. This seems the right way to display a window that has just been created. Now if we search for text using Mark | Containing text , or if we select a number of f...

Wrong background colour
Greetings--
I am running Windows XP Home Edition + SP1.
If I use FFF9EC for "rgbInactiveBgcol" as a registry tweak, I am getting a light blue background colour. It should be off-white/yellowish!
Has anybody experienced the same problem?
