Re: new version under way
There have been extensions and work-arounds created by users over the decades that could make for useful extensions to the X2 base code. This would help new users of X2 to immediately gain the benefits of these extensions without needing to dig through years of forum entries, try, fail and try again...

Re: blog: remove leading filename portion (e.g. song artist)
There's a lot of power in x2 that I use, and even more that I don't or haven't tried to use. However, the various HELP screens could use a bit up updating. The character range attribute still hasn't been added to the help for the mass rename dialog. Nice that it pops up when selected from the Specia...

Re: Some suggestions for the great new 5 version
Forgot to mention Mass Rename: If making that modeless, AND adding an APPLY button, multiple changes that need to be completed in sequence to a (large?) group of files could be done without ever leaving the window. Just a thought. Hey, X2 is STILL the first program I open every time I boot up! -----...

Re: Some suggestions for the great new 5 version
Man I totally forgot to add this suggestion due to extreme overload from work at the time but: Make ALL ORGANIZE dialogs MODELESS so the can stay open while continuing to interact with the main X2 window while insuring any changes to the items are updated in the open dialog. For instance, if BOOKMAR...

Re: Mass Rename Clears Selection
What's "too many"?
I might be able to limit the number of files being renamed if I knew the range that kept it under the threshold.
Alternately, is there a setting to prevent x2 from performing the refresh until explicitly performed (ctrl-R)?

Mass Rename Clears Selection
I was performing mass renaming on many files in a very large directory and noticed the renamed files were unselected after being renamed. I needed to cycle through the mass renaming multiple times to get the file set properly named so this became problematic. I guess I can understand how this might ...

Re: Couple of questions from noobie
Create a user command as such: >"%X2DIR%\xplorer2_64.exe" /S:YourLayout /1 /N /M /T "C:\_empty" where you insert your layout name if you use any and the path to an empty folder, and when you execute such a command, a new tab with the empty folder will be opened, which is as clos...

Turn Off All Visual Filters With One Click
I use dual panes with multiple tabs open in each, and make use of the visual filter toolbar in these panes on a regular basis. I'm trying to train myself to be aware of the FILTER icon being present or not in the info bar, but things can still be hectic and I miss that sometimes. So I wonder if ther...

Very cool!
I'm always amazed at solutions people with MUCH BETTER math skills than myself can come up with.
