I don't think Windows does caching for "removable drives" (USB flash drives and such) so you would probably only get corruption if you removed the drive while you were actually writing files at the time. External USB hard drives are treated just like any other hard drive so you could get s...

You can get away with doing that with USB flash drives but it would not be a good idea with an external USB hard drive. Open files and anything cached could be trashed.

How else would you disable removable drives? That is built-in to XP.

I like the idea of having context menus for the icons on the drivebar and also for custom toolbars. For the drivebar icons I would be happy with the system context menu but what I really want are options to eject DVDs and disable removable USB devices. For the custom toolbar icons it would be nice t...

this separate version will have crappy graphics. The one that will be distributed with the installer will have better ones, but it is going to be 1MB larger! So how do I get the manual with the better graphics? When I installed 1.7.0.3 I had it download the manual but I ended up with the same crapp...

huh? I found this info after some Googling. I am not a TC user but it seems that this allows you to create custom menus not only for folder bookmarks but also commands. x2 allows you to define user commands from the Customize menu but does not natively support creating custom menus. There is a utili...

The export settings option with "don't lock browsed folder" enabled is saving the reg file in the last folder set by the prelaunch cd rather than in the active folder.

Microsoft Knowledge Base

The command line length limit is 8191 for XP and 2147 for NT4 and 2000.

It seems that the limit for Windows 9x and Me is also 2047.

This limit also applies to environment variables in the shells.

There actually seems to be a 8192 character limit to the command line in XP. When you use $A to send parameters it sends the full path of each selected file. Using files with a shallow path I was able to send 270 parameters to a batch file. Adding a file put the command line over 8192 characters and...

Don't lock browsed folder option

The "Don't lock browsed folder option" helps if you delete folders from the tree view and in disabling/ejecting removable media. The downside is that it does not make the active folder (folder in the active pane) the current folder. This affects running scripts (bat/cmd files) from either ...
