> but I can't use many windows opened because it's just not useable xplorer2 makes it quite easy to manage many windows. So like [Alt+Enter] which opens folders in the inactive pane, a new command [Ctrl+Enter] opens folders in a new frame window. You can't get much easier than that! > Have you ever...

which program have you used for icon customization?
Last time I tried to change a folder icon in XP (using the standard XP property dialog) it worked fine, even in 2x/x2

this would be a useful feature but it requires a lot of work and i don't think it happens often enough to justify the programming effort in xplorer2 you can have many windows open, each one on its own thread, so if you suspect a read might go amiss for some reason, you can do it in a new window, and...

open tree nodes consume substantial system resources (especially in 2x) checking for file changes throughout the filesystem, that's why i collapse them completely

a quick way to reopen nodes is to use the [Alt+T] "Locate in tree" command, which synchronizes the tree with the active folder

as you said, 2x is basically done
only maintainance builds will be released, when bugs are discovered (if any). In such builds I usually stick in a feature or two, so this zip detail can be fixed

however, xplorer2 is fast catching up -- see the latest build .28 in the website

some improvements in these departments are planned for xplorer2
but the nice thing about shell integration is that you can use programs like TotalCopy from within 2x having the best of both worlds

this topic has been discussed before (please use the search "button" to track the relevant posts)

basically zips in XP are folders that's why they are bunched with the rest of the folders

xplorer2 is the successor to 2xExplorer, under development
it's still early days to call it even beta, but there is a version available for downloading, see the main website:

you're right, something's fishy there
however, drag-drop works fine

PS. I've just tested xplorer2 and it works fine, even for paste

the good thing about it is that multiple commands get sent to a single window rather than many you're right about ctrl+C, no way round this; other input is possible though at any rate you can turn it off setting binConsoleRedirection to 0 as explained in alpha.txt ; then you can have your favorite c...

2x doesn't remember filters very well
but it's a good idea to have [Ctrl+J] always available, setting the filter last used in a previous run
