Scrap pane details & long filenames
Hi Folks: I flattened out several folders and noticed that the filenames in the details box at the bottom of the pane ran into the second column of information--see the screenshot. The names are long but either they should be truncated or there should be a way to widen the columns of details. Is thi...

Re: blog: all that jazz
personally I find songs (with lyrics) rather pointless or better... not quite the music I have in mind You probably didn't have it in mind to dig your own grave either, but there you go. :D You should know by now it's impossible to control your own threads, especially when you stick your foot in it...

Re: Changing folders on network
If you go to Options, on the Advanced tab you will find "Faster network access with plain icons etc." Undoing that option will make the tree synchronize with network folders. This was pointed out to me recently.

Re: Command-line start-up options
Success! :-D Thanks, man! So now I have a shortcut on my desktop that loads x2 with all my folders in both panes in list view. When I start x2 in my normal fashion, from the shortcut pinned to my taskbar, x2 opens up with all my folders in both panes in details view. Precisely what I wanted. ...

Re: Command-line start-up options
I do not save settings on exit. I use the same folder groups every time. If I need x2 to start next time with different folders, I will put the folders I need in the appropriate tabs and do "save settings now" or modify the folder groups (if the new folder groups will be needed for a long ...

Re: Command-line start-up options
no, all the tabs of a layout inherit the "dominant" view style. The only way to enforce exceptions is to save custom folder settings Well, I think that's my question: can I set the dominant' view style from the command line? I don't want to create exceptions. I want x2 to start with all f...

Re: Command-line start-up options
. . . the layout . . . wont save different pane styles for different tabs... only the style of the active tabs on each pane are saved... Ah. There's the rub. I want the layout to save everything, particularly the pane styles of all tabs, active and inactive. Nikos, is it possible to create a comman...

Re: Command-line start-up options
Thanks FrizzleFry. I'll have to read up on layouts. I just saved a couple of layouts and tried starting x2 with them, but it didn't work. I did something wrong, no doubt. Reading the manual . . .

Command-line start-up options
Howdy: The manual seems to be telling me I can't do what I want to do. That is, I'd like to start x2 with 1) certain folder groups, 2) certain column sets, and 3) all folders in list view. I know #1 is possible, but what about #2 and #3? I want to set up a flavor of x2 for when I work from home and ...

Re: x2 v3.2 final(?)
Ah, there we go! Thanks Nikos. When I'm in the office, there is no performance hit at all. At home, when I connect through a VPN, there is no performance. I should probably, rather than wrestling with Windows Explorer, make a couple of folder sets that contain all my tabs but don't use details mode,...

Re: x2 v3.2 final(?)
Howdy: I installed 3.2 (Ultimate x64, Win7) yesterday and everything seemed just fine. This morning the tree no longer syncs with network folders. That is, if I click on tabs for local folders, the tree jumps to the current folder. If I click on a tab for a network folder, the tree doesn't move. The...

Re: PDF viewers overview
My previews of PDFs disappeared after I said OK to an Adobe Reader update. After a little research I uninstalled the Reader (no need for it when I have Acrobat) and installed an older version of iFilter, iFilter9. I can't remember where I found it, but it restored the previews.

Re: Missing folder cause tabs default to Desktop. ARGHH
I meant to weigh in on this back at the beginning. I agree with you guys (jayterry & pj) completely--I use x2 just like you, tabs are not ephemeral for me, they're defined workspaces. What I've done as a workaround to maintain sanity is use folder groups and turn off "Save settings on exit,...

Re: "Unauthorized file encryption"?
I don't think either folder is encrypted, but I'll make sure on Monday. What struck me is that 1) this is the first time I've ever seen this happen--in at least a decade of similar work--and that 2) the problem occurred only when more than one file was being dragged and dropped; single files posed n...
