Do you have an idea how soon until the final release?
I am very eager to try version 1.7, and have been checking your site daily for it, and wonder if you have any idea how close you are to the final release? I wouldn't mind trying the beta, but wonder what the phrase "so the odd bug may pop up" means. I wouldn't care if there where the occas...

Can I trust the Installer program most programs use?
Can I trust Installer programs used by most programs? Now that I've thought about my previous Add Remove control panel question, I've started to wonder that, if I don't use it, what to prevent a program Installer from doing anything it wants to my computer? I would assume, probably wrongly, that if ...

I goofed slightly when I wrote up my tip
I think I goofed slightly writing up my tip. My trick is using Custom Color coding to make the names of files created in the last 24hrs to bold letter formatting. I think people think I use a filter, I use Customize| Color coding... to set the formatting automatically and don't have to do anything...

Create a xplorer² Feature Request forum?
When I look at the scope of what this forum covers, I sometimes wonder if it would be easier for you to create new xplorer² forum dedicated to just collecting New Feature Requests. This forum then could become more centered on problem solving. I also think a xplorer² Tips forum might be nice to ga...

Add or Remove Program control panel necessary for Installs
Do I need to use the Windows XP - Add or Remove Program - control panel to install programs? Every Windows XP user guide I've ever read says to use this control panel to install programs. The directions for any new program I get say just click on whatever Install program that came with the program, ...

Direct xplorer2 to brain mind reading interface
My second choice is Toolbar customization. Could you start work on a direct xplorer2 to brain mind reading interface? I'm really sick of using the mouse and keyboard. Maybe by version 8? (This was supposed to go under the "you shape the future" poll, but I goofed and hit new topic. I'd del...

Little arrows on number input boxes backwards?
I think the little arrows used to increase and decrease numbers in the number input boxes used in dialogs, such as Search, are backwards. On my computer the down arrow increases the number, the up arrow decreases the number. I checked some other programs, such as the Windows Date and Time Properties...

I tried using search in files as you asked
I tried using "search in files" as you asked and it mostly works. Most of the files display as Unicode in the quick preview pane, but not all. The few that don't still show as hex and I have verified that they are WPS files. I also think I've noticed a interesting tendency for the first fi...

Microsoft Works WPS files preview best when the Encoding is
After further experimentation with x2 I have found that the best way to preview a Microsoft Works WPS files in the Draft Preview pane is to set the Encoding to Unicode. I just wish that the Unicode setting followed through to the next WPS file. Having to chose the encoding each time I click on the f...

How can I view Microsoft Works WPS files in the Preview pane
Does any one know a way to view Microsoft Works WPS files in the Preview pane? I haven't found an iFilter for them. The Draft preview shows Hex(?), stuff that looks like this: 00 00 00 00 .... 004fc 01 00 43 00 ..C. 00500 6F 00 6D 00 o.m. 00504 70 00 4F 00 p.O. 00508 62 00 6A 00 b.j. 0050c...

I enjoy reading your blog, keep on writing
I have read a few of your blog entries and I think you have a pretty good knack for making computer technical topics accessible. I hope in one of your future articles you cover the Windows Registry. After Microsoft's strange ideas of how computers should interact with their users, I sometimes get th...

Several xplorer2 suggestions
I have joyfully used xplorer2 for over a month now, and it has made using my PC immeasurably much easier. By liberating me from Microsoft's way of doing things, x2 fills me with the hope that using my computer could be made even easier and I have a few suggestions. If I can already do some of these,...

Congratultions Nikos
Congratulations Nikos, you have done something amazing, you have created a program so valuable and useful that it convinced me to pay for shareware. I used the Lite version for only one week before paying for the upgrade so I could support the programs development. For the past eight years since I m...
