If you are really desperate, you can still change the way folder icons looks in Xplorer2. This can be achieved by resource hacking shell32.dll. Lemme know I'll post how my xplorer2 looks like.

I also faced the same problem. xplorer2 always tried to access my floppy drive, even when i was not browsing floppy in either of the panes. I hardly use floppy drives. i found a workaround to this problem by disabling A:\ using MS Tweakui. Now A:\ does not shows up in xplorer2 or in windows explorer...
